I have tried my hand at card making and intend to carry on, I have made some decorations and calenders. I have made two crochet rugs for the chairs for the dogs to sleep on and I have made some new friends.
I am looking for another challenge now to take on,
Not sewing, nothing to do with sewing or knitting I have neither the inclination or patience for them.
Something crafty, but not something that will take days to do.
This is your challenge should you wish to undertake it.....................................

it really is very easy
the first 2 or 3 take concentration
after that, you will be well away, really you will
you may prefer the kits
i like doing the rag rugs
i prefer the finished article more
the rag rugs are heavy once done

Donkley's years ago I remember my nanna making a Clip Mat - have you heard of them, I wonder if it is just another name for a Rag Rug. I remember sitting for hours cutting up old material into strips for her 🙂

I started rag rugging recently using hessian & T shirt material. To be honest I found it a bit boring but other people love doing it so it's just me I think. I would rather sew.

Possibly you found it boring Patch because you are so good at sewing etc, whereas for me it would be a challenge.
Merlin I have just ordered a kit - so at least I will now have something to occupy me when I don't want to go out in the cold 🙂
Thanks again x

Wow, what a lot of wonderful crafty things and people in this thread, honestly,
what lovely stuff. I didn't realise you were so multi-talented Merlin, your stuff
is gorgeous.
I love the seaglass decoration, I have loads of seaglass that I began collecting to
make a mosaic with, but it looked nice just in jars so that's where it still is! I'ver
also made stuff with bits from the beach, sometimes just photographing pebbles
and stuff on the beach, sometimes collecting bits and making them into something
when I get home. I've also painted pebbles, I used to do loads but don't do so many
now.
I'll have a go at any craft, ny favourite at the moment is the fused glass I do at evening
classes, I'm addicted to it!

Wow what can I say so many wonderful things to do, now I don't know where to start. Everyone is so clever.

Cool Thread everyone. My friends and I are always looking for crafts to make and sell for the hoggies, there are a load of great ideas on here. Have a look at Pintrest too there are loads of ideas on there. My friend has been busy making ragged wreaths and these can be made for all seasons. You take a wire coat hanger and form into a circle and then tie strips of cotton fabric all around it. You can add on bits and pieces too for decorations..... little wooden bits, or flowers or whatever really.
I also love the idea of upcycling. 🙂
Brillant things there Merlin. 🙂

These are my raggy wreaths.

Here are some of the wreaths they have done. Sorry I don't have any closer images. They also do painting on bags etc. And I think they have done some candle making and then put the napkins on the candles. I haven't had a chance to get over and see these things, but I know they have been extremely busy making things to sell for the hogs. I have been crafting myself for donkeys years and have loads of patterns and ideas. Just don't have time to do some of them like I would like.
I am busy crocheting nests for the bird rescues still. They are needing large ones for bigger birds. LOL I also enjoy making needle felted brooches. Those are fun and easy. Especially with the moulds. I need to do a load of the hedgehog ones for my friends and for Vale. Vale is having a big doo this year as it is their 30th anniversary so I think I am going to have to dust off the sewing machine and get out my crafty ideas too. Any quick and easy ideas would be greatly appreciated.
My must make soon is a little hidey box type of thing out of fabric for my African Pygmy Hedgehog. At the moment he is sleeping in an empty cat food packet box. LOL He does have a little fleece inside too. He is a bit on the pampered side, more than the wildies. LOL

ooooh me too! I love the sharpness of the home made stuff.
I made a small embroidery hoop into a decoration for Christmas, I think they would look nice for any time of year, I shall be experimenting.
Merlin, did you just use zig zag stitching on that cushion with the flags on it? I only have straight and zz stitching on my machine.

Thanks Patch and Pat - the wreaths look brilliant. I couldn't visualise how nice they would look. Thanks for the pics xx

**waits to see fluffys rug**
i did Capt
i only did that because i just pieced them on
you can use iron on stuff to keep them in place and that stops them fraying
i just whizzed mine through the machine, putting them on as i went, the ZZ stitch stops them fraying

Hope you've got staying power Merlin - I bet it will take me ages. I have received an email saying it will be despatched in 12 days but it is a Christmas themed one, so I have all year to finish it LOL!

It is against the 1949 Coast Protection Act to remove materials like pebbles from the shore. The larger stone serve to dissipate energy from the waves and reduce erosion. I'm sick of seeing these painted pebbles as I live in devon.
11-11-2024 5:59 PM
Illegal to remove pebbles from the shoreline....google the reasons- if we All did it!!

I do hope they haven't taken too many pebbles in the previous eleven years.
