We all know it's supposed to be a time of good tidings, joy and warm feelings for our fellow man, hearts overflowing with love, faces glowing with happiness, serene smiles replacing everyday frowns.....pffftttt...
But what gets under your skin? what spoils the enjoyment of this festive time?.....
From a little niggle to the full blown, blood boiling teddy chucked out of the pram thing... anything.....come on,have a rant, let it all out ....you know you want to.......
I'll start the Christmas bauble rolling.....
The run up to it starts far too early
the tree lights are always tangled no matter how neatly they are put away the previous year

The "thing" that annoys me is the Mother-in-Law.
She can't be bothered shopping - just hands cash to me and expects me to sort it all for her - to me that is really rude and ignorant. If she doesn't get at least 4 parcels to unwrap she will sulk for hours and she always makes rude remarks about everyone else's gifts.
She insists on invading us on Xmas day - she refuses to drive, so insists that "him indoors" goes to fetch her and take her back.
She occupies the downstairs loo for up to an hour at a time, insists that "him indoors" removes the raised toilet seat so that she can use it, regardless of the inconvenience. She never asks or gives any warning before going, so I can be left absolutely desperate as there is no way that I can get upstairs.
She insists on food that no-one else wants to eat - melon for first course, roast turkey both breast and dark meat, roast parsnips, brussel sprouts, 3 kinds of stuffing, both cranberry and bread sauce, Xmas pud with loads of cream, mince pies, xmas cake. Left to ourselves we might buy a Bernard Matthews turkey joint, but wouldn't dream of cooking a bird. We would have a selection of veg, but neither of us likes brussel sprouts or parsnips. I loathe Xmas pud, mine pies and Xmas cake. She insists on gammon ham and a selection of cheeses with salad for tea (with mince pies and cream and Xmas cake). She also insists on luxury crackers (no idea why as all she does is moan about the contents). There has to be wine with dinner - no-one else wants it.
We have to eat at fixed times to fit in with her tablets etc.
"Him indoors" can just about manage a normal roast dinner, but he needs to be left un-interrupted, not forever having to drop everything to sort the toilet for her, or to make a cup of tea or whatever else she demands. He also only copes with one course - we don't usually have either a starter or a pud!
She won't even put the kettle on to boil, just sits there and demands cups of tea etc., expects everyone to wait on her hand and foot.
We have to have the T.V. on for her choice of programs, and she then snores all through it.
I am hoping that I can spend Xmas day helping out with the homeless - they are far better company.

It also really annoys me that I am unable to go to church because of her demands!

Oh Stroppy I can sympathise, my Christmases were very much like that when we were first married and we spent Christmas at my parents house, everything was regimented and had to be done at a certain time, all the traditional things had to be eaten andpresents were opened at 2pm. My parents were never awkward or rude just set in their ways, My parents are wonderful and have been great to us, however I longed for an easy Christmas, and when we bought a bigger house, I told them as we have more room I think everryone should come to us on Boxing day. Now we have Christmas day on our own and the family round on Boxing day. Everything is done on our terms now and it is lovely.

The local convenience store is open for a couple hours on Christmas day. I've never been round there on Christmas day to see what they have in stock. What we haven't got by about the 20th December, we will merrily do without.

The Outlaws buying my girls totally unsuitable presents and expecting me to be all smiley about it.
Anyone who asks me if we are all ready yet? Especially the ones who know that the anniversary of hubby passing is at the beginning of December. I do almost no Christmassy stuff until after that day.

Its runup starts too early i think!!.
If you want to go out for christmas lunch its so expensive!!.
It used to annoy me when i was young having to act like a servant when family came round!!. And i had to be there i could not go out!!. Even when i was older. LOL.
Putting up the decorations with my dad and we would always bicker and i was always impatient with him.
BUT. I wish both parents were here to spend Christmas with now.
Not having a lot of time off in my job even though its part time. LOL.
I do like Christmas though it just loses a bit of magic when you get older!!!!.

Can`t find what I want in shops because all the christmas stuff has taken over.
And the hundreds of listings appearing on the 25th and 26th for Unwanted christmas presents
And all the listing appearing earlier for fake Santa letters

I have been putting up with this woman for 39 years, but to be fair she has only been a real pain since FIL died 7 years ago.
If we are able to run a shelter for the homeless over Chrimbo I will be helping out as much as I can - it all depends on being able to use suitable premises.

People coming into the store at ten minutes before closing time on Christmas Eve, and moaning there are no vegetables or turkey left.....
