A little tiittalion might be alright, if we go to foreign countries, where they're starving, and haven't enough meat.

There they have to spin out the meagre meat, by coating it in disgusting "spices" or "curry powder". That's just to spin it out, and cover up their inability to make a proper meal.

But in the UK, we efficiently grow huge amounts of meat, and so can eat it plain in big pieces, without additives.

we do eat it ,  several  times a week

just because we havent today or yesterday  doesnt mean anything

i think we eat too much  meat in too big portions

lots of  medical proof that its not good for us in the long  run

Jesus Malacandran. You're very opinionated on what other people should and shouldn't eat. Each to their own. it's not all down to poverty stricken countries. Many here are having pasta of some kind, Italian food.I've never known Italy being classed as a poor country.

Well what are you having then.

And someone said the tea time thread was boring. British food, swan, peacock, mince meat had meat in it. A good british roast has potatoes from....where, not native to here, times change we live in a multi cultural society where we have more variety than ever before and I for one love to try new and different things, heck tomorrow I might even have haggis neeps and tatties.

Malacandran.. You are so very wrong about the use of spices in food.. And as for using spices to cover over 'their inability to cook ' ..I find that rude and offensive.. You sound rather racist in my opinion..
Nobody is saying that you must eat foods from other countries and cultures.. But how can you possibly voice an opinion without even trying it.. Very foolish!

Well what are you having then.

Spices are actually used to enhance the flavours of foods, and in some cases, act as a natural preservative.. Quite handy if you are living in a hot country or have inadequate storage facilities.

Cold ham is acceptable in a sandwich, but  surely not with cooked eggs. The eggs are hot, and go well with hot bacon. but not with cold ham!  I can't understand this obsession with "Ham".

As I said about a million times already, it's bacon.   Just because the Americans keep saying "Ham", why should we follow their way?

I mean the Americans don't even have a proper word for "petrol". They keep calling it "gas"!   Like they can't distinguish between a liquid and a gaseous state of matter.  However did they land on the Moon?  Probably because the Germans built their rockets for them.

Lordy Man are you having a bad day.  There is a lot that is good about the USA, considering what a young country it is and the fact that it is so huge, so many different landscapes and environments. fabulous to visit.  Yes, they were late joining the war, but without them, we'd probably all be speaking German.

As for food, well, I am a great cook and can cook Brit, French, Italisn, Indian, loads of stuff.  It must be very boring not to have tried food from other countries.  You can use spices to make a curry which is not hot, it is really just chicken in a sauce.  My own black pepper beef with yoghurt and brown rice is to die for ****if I modestly say so myself***.  Prtoper use of spices can transform even a simple beef stew - cardoman pods - mmmm- just the scent.

Ham is not American. We've cured ham in this country almost since time began medieval banquets served giant hams, America wasn't even around then.
What is your 'food police' obsession?

Well what are you having then.

Do you live in a cave  !!

In my book Ham is what you buy from the deli counter by the slice, or other weight, you can choose honey roasted, breaded, etc but its already cooked  .  Bacon is raw and mostly bought in pre packed plastic packets usually eaten for breakfast, I have never seen breaded bacon, have you?   Who said you can't eat cold ham with hot eggs and chips. I suppose a cold BLT sandwich is also not permitted.  Perhaps you should live a little and try it.

Oh dear, I've been doing it wrong apparently.

I would like to confess that I have eaten ham hot sometimes, straight from the oven.

Is that so wrong?  😞
