We are having salad, with new potatoes. Either Ham, Salmon or Prawns, I've been shopping as well as gardening today.

That's a very worthy tea-time meal. All organic and that. I'm sure it's true.
However it does put me in mind of reading some Sunday supplements, years ago. Where famous people described their "typical day".
Their descriptions usually went something like this:
I get up at 6.00 AM , and go for a 3-mile run. Then I have a breakfast of organic bean-shoots, followed by 20 minutes of transcendental meditation.
I used to have unworthy suspicions about the veracity of such accounts. Thinking that what actually happened, was that they crawled out of bed at quarter past ten with a hang-over, had a cup of coffee, and a big draw on a Players No.6.
I see now that my suspicions were unfounded.

Hello
I buy 99% of organic items from local shops & health food shop or Waitrose or local farm stalls
I noticed that I did not waste as much ( not that I did ) & actually bought what I needed & enjoyed it
So it might cost me a bit more however when I do my account at the end of the week for food shopping I can see that in the long run I am spending not too much & prefer quality rather than quality ( my prerogative I suppose )
No I do not wake up at the crack of dawn & eat organic beans even though I am up fairly early most of the time
I always remember my mum cooking us great meals that at the time were indeed "organic" & tasted yummy
I do not own a TV/Microwave & truly enjoy cooking using quality product & do not care in the least if my organic potatoes/carrots are a bit bruised & not perfectly round ...
Hope this helps

I was just wondering whether we really need to eat so many different foods, in our diet.
Most animals eat a few basic foods. For example, pigeons only eat grain, with perverse variations such as bread, supplied by humans.
And cows and horses just eat grass. Though horses may eat oats, again supplied by humans. Also I have personally witnessed a cow eating a slice of bread, though she seemed slightly doubtful about it.
The thing is, what other animals consume the sheer range of foods that we humans do!
We eat absolutely everything! Surely that's not natural?

since you have never said what you have for tea we can not comment on that unless you are a cow and only eat grass?????

Cookie, in reply to your post, many thanks, I have an adequate breakfast most days. This is sausage or bacon, egg, baked beans, toast, porage and apple juice.
In the early evening, my boyfriend cooks me a good dinner.
