It has been almost 4 years now since my son's wedding when you lovely peeps helped me to decide on an outfit and where to find things.
I was soooo grateful for that help so I would very much appreciate your help if I may once again ask you all.
My daughter Amy, who some of you may remember went through a terrible time of deep depression and we were at one time very worried about her, well I happy soo happy to report that she has turned a corner. She has up to now fought her anorexia battle and gone back to a very safe weight and seems to have pushed the old depression away. She has met a lovely guy and they got engaged on holiday in the summer this year.
So.....now we are talking weddings as they don't want to leave it too long.
Needless to say though, money is very very tight so we will have to do a lot of the needed decorations, invites and things ourselves, Not that I mind that cos as some may remember I am very Artycrafty. lol. What I would like though if anyone can help is your shopping knowledge. I have got a great idea for table centrepieces but to buy the fish bowl vases Amy would like are just sooo expensive.
Soooooooo I am thinking glass jars from the shopping trolly once the contents have been consumed, so my ask is can anyone post a list of things they buy in jars, the fancier the better or things they have seen in fancier jars (I am thinking a little fancier and bigger than a jam jar) and where they have seen them. This would be a great help as I don't get to many different places on a regular basis to know what is out there.
Any other ideas for anything wedding would be a great help, so if you would like to post on this thread with anything you may feel a good idea I would love to receive it.
Many many thanks.
Busty, aka Forum-Decorum.

yes, Stan they look lovely, I love the tea light idea too, the Venue where they want to get married is a Buildings Museum and the Hall they want is an old rebuilt one with timber carved beams so their rule is that if candles or tealights are used then they have to be well covered by being in the bottom of a large glass of some description. I have to say those look gorgeous as one of my favourit flowers is an orchid. xx

Nice time of year for a variety of flowers, what about champagne glasses or wine glasses you'll have the stem height to add charms or pretty ribbons, & you can pick em up cheaply at car boots etc.
Yes carboots, gonna start searching those, thanks saasher. xx I do like the large brandy type balloons I think they call em xx

A friend of my daughter had sweet trees something like these and tied them in with her colour scheme, her mum said they where really easy to make and cheap to as she decorated plain brown flower pots and weighted them down with sand

jars that are slight;y bigger than jamjars are things like some of the homebrand cooking sauces
pickled onions jars
how long are you planning on having candles light?
you may need to check heat . temps etc if something isnt made for the purpose you want

Agree with Gina. Tea-light containers get really hot. I would think LED tea lights would be much safer, you can even get submersible ones that you can put in a vase of flowers.

Hello Busty, in case you are interested I have around 10 of those large-ish birdcage centrepieces. They are cream/ivory colour and vintage looking.
They were used once for a wedding and there is a holder inside for a pillar candle.
They are taking up room in my unit and I would like to shift them.
There are 3 different shapes that make up the lot but they all look superb displayed on tables.
They were used with real ivy draped around them.
I can go and sort a photo of them if you are interested.
Best wishes

Hello
Have you an Ikea near you? I went recently and they had small vases from 60p. Also imagine a milk bottle shape, they had similar vases to that for £1.00

Hello,
And thank you too my lovely, sadly no Ikea near enough though, but 60p isn;t bad at all is it. xx
