Tonight it is pasta bake - something easy to make and warming on this very windy Wednesday.

Re: WINDY WEDNESDAY'S tea time treat

Just started to rain again here so had a bit of a sprint out to the garden to bring in washing. With the wind it has dried a treat. Lucky me only 3 more loads to do.

Minced Beef and Onion pie with mashed potato and peas, off out later to skittles, oh dear wonder how low my score will be tonight.

we had stir fry with extra mushrooms, and I popped in the rest of the leg of lamb we had yesterday...it was very tasty. I had extra soy on mine, I'm getting addicted to that stuff.....I love it!

Re: WINDY WEDNESDAY'S tea time treat

We had breaded cod and mushy peas for our tea.  Nice and hot it was too.  It's blowing a right gale here at the moment.

Re: WINDY WEDNESDAY'S tea time treat

What happened to my writing???  Woman Surprised

We had a funny tea today.

I got a sheet of puff pastry and made an edge round it.  Spread a tube of tomato paste on, then a tin of drained chopped tomatoes, then sweetcorn, then grated cheese.  Bake for 15 minutes, break 6 eggs gently over the top and bake another 10 mns.  He had a third of that with some five beans.

I had a Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie with cauliflower and broccoli.

I just found these under the tree.  I'll have them later.  Smiley Wink

Re: WINDY WEDNESDAY'S tea time treat

Well the lads are having boil in the bag fish with oven chips and mixed veg and probably some drippings as I have yet to master putting dinner out with only one hand.  Aren't colds and men wonderful!

Pasta bake LOL - enjoy.  Soup, home made and thick of any variety is always better for the addition of a little crispy bacon.

Re: WINDY WEDNESDAY'S tea time treat

We had a pasta bake here too and a part bake baguette.

CG, How do you tell the difference between the sweet and horse chestnuts? I have been trying to figure it out for ages now.

Re: WINDY WEDNESDAY'S tea time treat

They are a different shape. Sweet Chestnuts are pointed & Conkers are round. The husks are different to. Sweet ones have lots of fine spines & conkers just have a few thiker points on.

Re: WINDY WEDNESDAY'S tea time treat

Maggie summed it up there pat, as you'll see on the picture.  The conkers are on the left.  I think most people roast them but I just boil them for about 15 or 20 minutes.  There's no need to cut them, they won't explode but putting a slit in them helps with the peeling when they're cooked.  Peel them when they're hot to make it easier.  Smiley Happy
