Just popped into my local Co-op to get some bread and had a quick look at the "cheap" section.
Got two salmon fillets reduced from £4.00 down to 75p. Two duck breasts reduced from £8.00 down to £2.00 and a whole duck reduced from £9.00 down to £3.00. All in the freezer now. Sometimes it really does pay to look in the cheap section. Although it has left the purse empty....it will save money in the weeks to come.
There was plenty of other stuff just as cheap....but room in the freezer is rather limited otherwise I would have got it.
Not as good as the £5.00 of mince I got for 18p some months ago.

Our Co-op are brilliant for reductions. I quite often stock up there.

i agree - the co-op is great for indate reductions. i got lamb chops for 37p and 42p ( i can't remember their real price ) and they had the next days date on too 🙂

Waitrose had packs of tomatoes for 19p and new potatoes for 15p. Packs of asparagus for 35p and red cabbages for 6p each.
Some of these must have been on multi buy discount as they also took £1.60 off the bill
(I loves a bargain!!)

I bought 5 packets of Finest sausages on Friday for 40p per packet wicked. All different flavours, pork and apple, pork and onion, pork and sweet chilli and two others I can't remember they are in the freezer now, 2 chickens at £1.25 each, also in the freezer.

I have 3 rabbits in the freezer and a brace of pheasants hanging in the out house all free of charge (it pays to be friendly with your local game keeper )

Oh don't tell me about hanging dead things, we have three brace of pheasant in the garage, OH goes beating on a Saturday so we eat a lot of pheasant. Pheasant stew, pheasant casserole, pheasant curry, pheasant in red wine sauce (that's really nice) blady blady blah.
They cost £2.50 for the brace, it make a really cheap meal, and is very healthy. I prefer them fresh not hung for too long. I freeze most of them to eat throughout the year.

Nope, not had them for Donkeys years, there just happened to be hundreds of packs of sausages on that days date.

Slow cook the steak with kidney and then make a posh steak and kidney pie, along with the steaks you should get a few meals out of that piece, sounds yummy, hungry now.

Thanks guys, good ideas, I took one look at it and thought OMG so ta, ....... so there are now 8 sinfully large steaks, 2 small steaks in grease proof paper and food bags in freezer.... and a massive big lump slowly cooking in the oven as I write.
I could not get any Kidney for love nor money... it was "offal" even a small piece of venison would have done but alas they only had prepack with whiskey or some other marinade which was no good to me for making a steak pie.
So it's roast beef n Yorkshire puds tomorrow, ah lovely. I could make a little ruff puff too mmmm.
