It could be the first cup of tea, hearing birdsong, getting a welcom email; anything!
I've been asked by a friend to review his new book

This afternoon was pootling in the garden time. Wandering around digging up loads of seedlings and potting them up. Aqualegia, hollyhocks, verbena bonariensis, poppies and Japanese anemones, a gentle time resulting in about 60 "free" plants.

We like it but it's a bit wild in areas and things seed themselves all over the place. Some people have dedicated seed beds, with us everything seems to germinate in our gravel drive!

We had Lily of the valley of all things used to come up every year through a TARMAC drive!!! It's such a delicate little flower, it was unbelievable to see it push it's way through! 😮

My first thought was Charlotte and then I went and changed it to Elizabeth!
My neighbours were really happy when I saw them today because they saw their first grandchild born in London on Saturday, and that made me happy because they're really nice people. Pity about the name though, Flora Pearl. That didn't make me happy but it's their choice so there you go! 🙂

They are discussing letting me go home tomorrow evening.
They have been checking my blood sugar evry hour, but we never managed to get it above 4, even when I drank a 500ml bottle of regular cola (over 50g of sugar).
They have no idea why my temperature is up, as all the blood tests show infection levels falling steadily.
They have stopped my diabetes meds and have decided that the problem is that my body just is not digesting and absorbing sugar - no-one has any idea why.
So I now have to check my blood sugar every two hours and then put glucose straight through the I.V. line to bring the level up to at least 6.5
So I have a fancy testing kit, and a complicated chart. I am instructed to eat anything that I fancy.
They hope that this will be temporary, but really they haven't got a clue.

A lot of things have made me happy today. Stroppy is holding her own; I saw a goldcrest in the yard collecting down for its nest; met an old friend and had a hug; met another and had a latte; had a lovely cuppa and some Thorntons when I got home; my cats love me to bits; we had cold chicken for tea (those last two are definitely linked!)
