That's a lovely crib Von.  You've done a good job there.

Hope that Maggie's enjoying her workshop.

I've had a good session in the front garden today and it looks a lot less like a jungle.  There's still some more weeding to be done though but I'm shattered.

Von that is gorgeous Smiley Surprised
He's going to be one very spoilt little boy ❤️

Have been to visit MIL today 😞   her dementia is getting worse but every now & then a glimpse of the "old her" shines through  ❤️   sadly as a family though we have had to make the decision that she will NOT be going to her Grandaughters wedding next month, Grandaughter is so upset that her Grandma can't be there, they were always so close infact from the age of about seven she's always told her when she got married she wanted her to be her bridesmaid & she'd still go along with that if she could. She's going to have a little pocket added to the lining of her dress now to put her grandma's wedding ring in so she can still have  "a piece of her with her on her day"  ........ Ooh & the wedding is in a Castle  ....... i've never spent the night in a castle before Smiley Very Happy

I was so sad to read that CK. We are in a similar position with my FIL.

His Alzheimers has progressed really quickly and we can no longer take him out to eat in public.

In fact he stopped eating at all and we now have carers in to cook for him.

We would have had to look for a care facility, except that the cancer is spreading so quickly that we have decided to keep him in his own home as we know that it's only a matter of time.

I think that the little pocket for the wedding ring is a lovely idea.

Merc stop trying to scare me Smiley Tongue

Learning, MIL dosen't eat much either, we occasionally  venture to the te*co's or the garden centre cafe with her just for a change of scenery as they are both nearby but quiet often the visits are cut short because of "accidents"  sadly not the kind that mop up 😞

.... well that & the fact she trys to pocket all the cutlery, napkins & everything else on the table Smiley Embarassed   we joke & tell her if she's going to do things like that we'll give her a list of "wants" Smiley Wink   bless her ... she always laughs but hasn't a clue she does it heart
She fell & broke her collar bone last month & had her arm put in a sling ..........  she kept taking off, neatly folding it up & putting that in her pocket too, I don't think it ever stayed on for more than 20mins  Smiley Frustrated
She hasn't a clue who we are but to use her words .... she knows we "belong to her"

She's 88/89 I can't remember which ..... but never sits still for more than 2 minutes, she's been like that all her life  & she swears she never has any visitors even though she has more than anyone else in the home Smiley LOL
Thankfully she is in a wonderful care home & all the staff love her to bits heart

You are lucky to have a good Care Home CK - is it private or council run? I am so pleased we won't have to go down that route.

FIL sleeps about 20/24 hours due to the cancer, but when he's awake he 'gets up to mischief' as the carers call it.

We have 2 brand new pairs of trousers gone missing, as well as the oven gloves. Sometimes he takes off the clean sheets that his Cleaner has put on, takes the dirty ones out of the laundry and puts them back on the bed!

The main problem we have is getting him to have a shower and change his clothes. Not sure if it's lack of energy or the Alzheimers but it really is a battle.

Its one of the "Orchard" care homes & they accept both private and local authority funded residents. MILs is mainly local authority funded but does require a little extra top up Smiley Happy

Alzheimer's is a terrible thing.  Luckily, neither of my parents have even though they are both in their 80's.  My mum sometimes tells me that I haven't told her things when I know very well I have but she's been like that for years.  My dad has been forgetful for as long as I can remember but that's normal for him.  Hope that peeps on here that have family with this horrible thing manage to get good care for them.

I have been doing more weeding again today and I am shattered.  At least the front garden is looking a lot better now.

Us too Chris! OH mowed the lawns front and back and I did the edges and tidied up some. It looks really nice now! it's worth the effort isn't it?

Altzheimers is a terrible thing, but there is a humerous side to it sometimes, like the cutlery episode CK....aaww bless....

Thats so true CB,  ......... laughter & tears ..... we try not to dwell on the tears heart

she loves her photos especially ones of her great grandchildren but we had to stop putting them in frames because they always went in her pockets too & staff were afraid she fell with them in her pockets & hurt herself .... she will sit & chat to them for ages telling them how lovely & how beautiiful they are .... then you find them screwed up in the bin Smiley Frustrated   she has 6mth old twin great grandsons & they apparently caused her great confusion when she met them Smiley LOL

A friend of mine has twin grandsons who are identical.  Even though one is slightly taller than the other. I still can't remember which one is which.   I can understand what you are saying about your MIL though CK.  It must be an awful worry.

Yes alzheimers is an awful ilness it takes away the person you always knew .

FIL had it & would do the most outragous things like taking off shopping on his mobiltity scooter at 3 am wearing his pj's he would also 'steal' toilet rolls & hide them in his wardrobe 😞

My chest infection is clearing now thankfully  in fact im feeling well enough to venture outdoors as its a nice sunny day here in Notts 🙂

Glad that you're feeling better Von.  It's not been as nice weatherwise here today as it was over the weekend.  It keeps trying its best to rain.

Sorry to see that your hubby is coming down with man flu CB.

I've been for a sight test this afternoon and my new glasses will be ready a week on Thursday.  I hate having my eyes tested as I seem to have a headache for hours after.
