Good morning! It's nippy here today & I don't think it's supposed to be. 🙂

PCC - your lampshade.

We used to have a great lighting shop in the next village, he retired recently and no-one would take over the business.

I did just as you and took the original lampshade off for a pattern.  When I got stuck I took into said shop and he said first rule unless you are a pro is - don't take the original shade off. You use it as a base to put your new creation on top.  So I went and bought 2 real cheapie shades - plain beige - and then.

Spray the cover of the original shade all over with craft/sewing adhesive - let it get tacky. Then spray the wrong side of your creation with the same spray adhesive and, with lampshade standing upright gently place the new one on top using your hands to flatten as you go (an extra pair of hands helpful to hold it steady for you) If you get any bumpy bits just pull it back and start smoothing again.

You may have to use some more adhesive to make sure the join sticks down well.  Don't spray but spray some onto an old plate and use a paintbrush to apply, or use some wallpaper border adhesive the same way.  Fold over the top and the bottom the same way. I did 2 like this same as LA but cost me a tenth of the price.  Good luck.

rainydaywoman  ...your right & thats what im going to do or try to find a traditional type of lampshade frame 😄

Morning ladies.:-x

It's a lovely bright and breezy day here ideal for getting the washing done.:-D

At present I am washing cups and wiping down the staffroom before the cleaner comes as it's a disgrace (I know daft) but she's a lovely lady and has enough to do.

Small office with 2 women and 46 men in every day.

So why do men think it's ok to leave it looking like a bomb hit suppose cos at home the wife/mother does it.:-(

you answered your own question mrs stan

they know you will do it and know you care about the cleaner

they have no incentives to pick up after themselves

mrs stan, you are obviously too soft]:)

I know I'm too soft but when you see 50 odd cups piled high in the sink and overflowing onto the units I despair.

Cleaner is in her late 70's and is only still here as she does not want to retire and we do all love her,but she's not as fast or precise as she used to be.

I feel if we all helped just a little life would be easier fo all concerned.

Merlin maybe I need you to come and give said men cleaning lessons :^O

Think you're right merlin.

Just think if people noticed what she was missing bosses may not be so understanding about her still working, but I know the money is handy!!

Will try and have a word with them as I give the job sheets out I think (guilt trip them as if she was their mum ;-)).

Right off to do proper work 😞

Afternoon everyone 🙂

I have just been & dropped Son off at 6th form, its his first exam this afternoon, talked about stressed 😞   I've never seen him like this before 😮

even the fact that I'm picking him straight up afterwards for a mad dash to catch the train to Liverpool for tonights match (his first every proper match hopefully he'll arrive with 15mins to spare before kick off 😐 ) didn't raise much of a smile 😮

just have time for an hours knitting now so I'm snuggling down in chair with a coffee :^O
