I see if you spend £35 at a certain supermarket for the next 3 weeks, you get a tenner back. I asked a friend, who is spending this, if she would have normally spent that much and she said no! I had to laugh. Think we are all the same when it comes to these offers. The supermarkets play on it.

supermarkets play on it?
supermarkets are there to make money
they dont drag people in off the streets and make them buy things
you laughed at your friend
so it really is "people"
people making choices
wrong/stupid/and or greedy choices
the net is awash with people moaning about supermarkets
i just dont get it
if people dont like it, go somewhere else
there are plenty of alternatives
the whole BOGOF is another debate, granted

Exactly Merlin, if everyone that moaned about supermarkets stopped shopping in them they would close down, funny that..
I have friends who spend an extra fiver to save 3 pounds, der............ Its no wonder the supermarkets make loads of money.
Buy one get one frees are fine for store cupboard items or things you could freeze, but fresh oranges and apples only work if you have people to eat them.

No there are not always plenty of alternatives, so please don't generalise.
I live near a large town in Cornwall - we don't have a greengrocer or a fishmonger and only one butcher in the town, so where else do I shop? I really do not have an alternative and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.
We don't have corner shops only spa shops and they are very, very expensive and limited in what they stock.
The nearest 'farmers market' and a pretty poor one at that is over a 50 mile round trip.

With chips there. When we had little shops nobody used them, now they want them they are all co-op or tesco or morrisons or even sainsbury. And that's the local corner shops. Tesco are taking over all the dead and buried pubs as well.
The only choice is which supermarket. We have a butcher that I don't like, we have another butcher but there's no parking, on a very busy road and no it's not walking distance.

How to half your shopping bill every week for ever!
Make a shopping list before you go and work out exactly what you need and stick to it.
We did it for a month and halved our bills.
Amazing what rubbish you buy on impulse in a supermarket.
