We don't go out either when it's been snowing as we are frightened of fallin as well. It wouldn't do my arthritis any good and it wouldn't do my mum any good either. I hate being stuck in which I will be if it snowed and then froze over it.

To all of you that think a 4x4 is the answer let me tell you it's not, we have one and there have been many a time that I still can't get out in fact we had so much snow at the beginning of this year even the plough and tractor could'nt get through to the village and the only way out for one sick resident was by being winched up by the rescue helicopter

I am in Maidstone in Kent right in the town Centre... The road down into town right opposite my flat is sort of on a downward slope and i do not like walking in the morning to work if it icy..... I really dread falling i get so embarrassed,, it makes me feel silly ha ha ha .. Its like an assault course getting down there and i go inch by inch LOL.

All of the roads on our estate are on the level. It's just our driveway that slopes done a bit towards the road. In the past, when we've walked to the shops, we've ended up walking in the middle of the road. For one thing, it's safer and for another thing, people clear the snow from their driveways and put it all on the pavement instead of on their gardens.

Meant to add earlier that we did a big food shop this afternoon so now we are well prepared for what the weather throws at us.

Have you thought of getting it delivered books. I know some people like to choose their own fresh produce but in an emergency it wouldn't hurt. Those delivery van drivers are quite determined and it's only in the very worst of conditions that they can't get through. Worth considering if it does get bad. If you fell and hurt yourself could your mum look after you like you look after her?

We did manage today CG and thank you for your kind thoughts. If the weather gets really bad and we can't get out, I will definitely consider having a food delivery from one of the big supermarkets.
