SUNDAY'S foody thread

Just the usual...sunday roast chicken with yorkshire pudding, carrots, cabbage, dwarf beans, brussels, broad beans, runner beans, cauli, broccoli, roasted potatoes and a few roasted baby onions. As per usual, I will be stuffed after all this so an hours walk with the dog follows.

Sunday is the same as a normal day for me unless I have the family here. Probably Lamb Chops.

Merlin....nope dont have a HUGE cooker....just small portions of each vegetable in a steamer. I eat mainly veg so like as much variety as possible. with a salad for tea I have probably reached about 15 of my 5 a day....just in one day! The pots and onions go on the same shelf (above the chicken) as the yorkshire pudding. It is all in the preparation and the fact that the same thing happens every Sunday...so plenty of experience. I WISH I did have a huge cooker though

Happy Sunday

LOL XTF.....I could LIVE on veg and salad. The good thing is that due to my healthy diet I am still the same size (12) as I was when I was at school and I am now the "wrong" side of 50!. Got a low cholesterol count and a very healthy blood pressure...so there is a lot to be said from eating LOTS of veg..

When I do a roast for the family we have at least six veg. Some doubled up in a saucepan, some steamed on top. The grandchildren eat more veg than meat. You don't need a lot of each but the variety is nice.Woman Happy

Yuk, frozen veg!  For a start I like to peel my own, no scabby bits left on or bits of peel.  I got some once thinking they'd go well in a casserole, save me chopping all that carrot and swede, yuk, talk about soggy.  Hubby and I tend not to like the same veggies so have to buy twice as many,  but I find they stay quite crisp in the salad drawer for a good five days.Smiley Happy

I love those very fine beans, frozen ones, we call them squeaky beans, love the crisp texture of those but never buy any other veg...oh yes I do forgot the frozen peas for OH.

We are having shepherds pie with cheesy top and beans.

Very different Sunday Lunch this week as we ate out in a Chinese restaurant instead of the local pub...

Sticky ribs in honey sauce followed by chicken in chilli and garlic sauce with egg fried rice...for dessert it was banana fritter with syrup.......made a nice change.
