Ruby's new pet

Ruby's other granny has just bought her a miniture shetland pony, called Ollie, he is 3 years old and will be going for a special operation. She collects him tomorrow, he lives close to where granma lives, so they are going to walk him to his new home, pictures to follow, when i get to see him, i think he is a skewbald

I bet she'll be thrilled Ruth, but is it going to start a lifelong obsession of early mornings and off to gymkhanas and such?  I bet her mum will be soooo pleased!!  Looking forward to the photos, puts me in mind of those Norman Thelwell ones!

Been to see Olly today, we couldn't get him back in his loose box, he also could smell  the mare. He is a gorgeous,

Aaaah big hugs to Olly he is gorgeous, I am sure Ruby will adore him, I would have loved a pony when I was young but my mum didn't like them.

He was a little tike whilst we where there and let him out in the paddock, he wanted to get in the next field, In this photo he looks like he has had hair extentions

He may be small & cute but he is still a stallion (for the time being) & will want to act like one. They are strong little buggers!

Please tell us they have experience with horses. He is sweet but he is is still one big pet! Shetlands aren't the nicest breed of pony. I had my first pony very young but my dad would never have bought me a Shetland. They have the muscles of a shire!

Grumpy they have had horses all their lives, some of their horses/ponies are over 25 years old, they where Rubys mums and uncles ponies when they where young, they have lots of fields and stabling.

I used to have a shetland pony or two every winter when i was little, we looked after the ponies that gave rides on Morecambe beach

I always wanted a pony when I was little, til I got bounce on a road and stood on!!

New Forest ponies can be as grumpy as Shetlands 🙂

He is beautiful, as is Ruby - bet they will get themselves into all sorts of mischief together

We had a miniature horse, he was a bit nippy, even after we got him 'done'  (or was it 'because' we got him done )
