Thanks Rose. No I work with some rescues. I do take in hedgehogs and look after them and then we get them back out to the wild. Some I raise up from babies and some come in as adults. At the moment alot of the rescues are taking in Autumn Juviniles... Hogs born too late in the year that aren't up to weight for hibernating. My husband and I look after some in our own home. We converted one of our rooms into a dedicated hog room. And we overwinter in the conservatory too. It is alot of hard work and no holidays or breaks. If you have a wildlife rescue near you, see if you can volunteer with them as that is the way to learn and they are always looking for help. If you let me know where abouts you are I can let you know if one is nearby or not. I have some friends who share info over the internet. Vale Wildlife are always looking for help they are in Glostershire. And I have a friend who runs a hog rescue in Thatcham. And there are a load of others. Looking after the animals is a huge commitment and you will need a great vet too. I have trained my lot up on hedgehogs. 🙂 And we have a good working relationship. You can check out Vale's, South Essex, BHPS and the forum at Epping Forest Hedgehog Rescue websites as they have loads of great info. 🙂 And if you just want to look after the ones in your garden..... put out a bowl of cat food... biscuits and a bowl of water. That will help alot of them. 🙂
