Pet-friendly weed killer and patio cleaner

Hope I can call on you friendly people for abit more advice please? You told me what was best to cover my fence. Got that sorted now, the Clematis and Forsythia are coming on a treat. Now need to know what is the safest weed killer to use for the grass and weeds that insist on growing between the gaps in the flags? Also the safest patio cleaner please. Not sure if you are allowed to name brands though, so if not, apologies for asking. Hope you are all well.

For the weedkiller, I would recommend one of the long lasting ones (6 months) you will find that almost all of them are harmless to pets once they are dry. Do make sure you get one that will kill grass and weeds as most will only do weeds.  A bit more labour intensive but you can buy a gadget for weeding between slabs.  If they are just laid onto soil you will have a problem as they will move over time and weeds will make it worse.

As for a patio cleaner Jeyes Fluid and a stiff brush are excellent in combination with a bit of elbow grease.  Again you would need to let it dry before letting pets onto it.

Boiling water for the weeds in the cracks.

Safety advice: Mind your feet. Wear shoes. Keep pets indoors.

Or buy a weed-wand (basically a mini-flame thrower).

Safety advice - as above, plus have a bucket of water or a fire-extinguisher handy, just in case...

Most weedkillers are harmless these days, expensive and harmless(to weeds that is). Don't get me started on mosskillers either!.

They changed the formula about four year ago.  As long as you wash it down with plenty of water it's OK.

I have kept cats for years, used Jeyes fluid and grow lilies as well as cut them for the house, never had a problem with either.

You just have to use your common sense, which I admit is woefully lacking these days.

There is also no need to shout!

Try a glyphosphate based weedkiller, roundup type weedkiller. Or one of these

What about a pressure hose, but don't undermine the patio, can buy a patio cleaner from the builders merchant, though they are caustic.

Well I am taking the organic route this year.  Grand daughter denudes every flowering weed in the garden on each visit and proudly presents them to Mumma.  Who am I to spoil the fun.
