PORRIDGE, RICE PUDDING.

Now i see all the porridges are getting new flavours and fruit added. I have never been able to take to porridge i do not understand the funny taste and its lumpy but tried one that had Golden Syrup but still did not like the taste. I want to try one of the new fruitier ones as they have more in them to take the taste off of just blandness. I like oaty things like cereals or Flapjacks so i dont get why i do not like porridge?. Everyone seems to eat the new instant ones and im determined as its good for you. Is it fattening?.

I have only just come to eating Rice Pudding in the past few years as they have flavoured that and i love Muller Rice now especially Toffee and banana, abd the Maple Syrup one. I also like the tinned one with sultanas and nutmeg in!!!!.

What do others think with the cold winter coming, do you eat porridge?.

PORRIDGE, RICE PUDDING.

When my children were young we had pudding every day. I used to make ground rice, sometimes I put a drop of food colouring in, blue pudding, green pudding, we had fun! Semolina, tapioca  (snot ball pudding)  and my favourite was 'varicose vein' pudding which was macaroni, boiled until soft then sugar and evaporated milk added.  Lovely!  Woman Wink

EVERYONE HAS GONE RICE PUDDING MAD. QUESTION THOUGH. WHEN YOU HAVE THE INSTANT ONES IN THE CARDBOARD CARTONS ( IF ANYONE HAS) CAN YOU NOT MAKE THEM WITH MILK. YOU MAKE THEM WITH WATER AND I KNOW THEY HAVE DRIED SEMI MILK IN THE MIXTURE BUT SURELY YOU CAN USE MILK?. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS????.  YOU COULD TAKE IT AND PUT IN A BOWL AND MAKE IT NICELY.

I've had 'quick' Q*aker oats, but not instant.  Best thing to do is to experiment.  Use milk instead of water.  If it's inedible (which I don't see why it should be) you haven't lost much have you?  Smiley Happy

in reply to chips and brown i have to have porridge every day as it helps my cholestral as it contains a lot of soluable fibre but i do not really like it especially as i can not have all the nice stuff in it as i am diabetic.
