Our cat has been hit by a car

Had a phone call this morning from the vets round the corner to say that someone had been in to say they could hear a cat in distress, so the vet nurse went and got the cat and brought it to the vets. Turns out it is our Kuki. He has been hit by a car and has broken his pelvis in three places, dislocated his hip and is paralysed in his tail. They dont know if his bladder is also paralysed, we will have to wait and see over the weekend, if his bladder is paralysed, they will have to put him to sleep. She said the pelvis would eventually heal itself with cage rest and his tail would have to be removed.

He did not come in last night, but he does occaissionally sleep next door if he cant be bothered coming home. He must have been lying out there all night, one leg is cut and full of stones, where he had tried to drag himself back home. The vet said he was freezing cold when they got him.

So keep everything crossed for him.. xx

How awful I do hope he can recover, my cats will go ages without a wee if the weathers really bad even though we have a litter tray they prefer to go out, I have known the one go 24 hours or more. He might have severe bruising so perhaps using a catheter until this settles down might help. good luck to him

Just had a call from the vets, he has been a lot of pain today, even with pain killers and sedation. He has also started to develop jaundice, so we are going in to say our goodbyes to him in the morning. Its going to seem so odd wirthout him, he would always get in the way when I was trying to take photos and loved nothing more than climbing into all the boxes. We will all miss him, but I now its the right thing to do.

Aaaww love I am so sorry, it is so sad when you loose a friend, I had to make the same decision a year ago and it broke my heart, but you are doing the right thing for him, and you by saying goodbye, a cuddle and a kiss and a friendly voice he will go in peace.

If you need a shoulder to cry on we are all here for you.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that, was really hoping it would be good news and he would make a good recovery. Poor boy (and poor you too).

Hugs to you, very upsetting to lose a loved pet. So, so sad.

Oh I feel so sad for you, was in that position 6 months ago when I had to say goodbye to my beloved dog so I know how you are feeling. Treasure your memories. (((((Hugs)))))

Ahh, so sorry, poor little pussycat.

Don't thinnk I'm out of order saying this please, but years ago our Paws cat suffered the same.

He was hit by a car and his back end was paralysed and he had a broken pelvis.  The vet said

if his back end and tail lost the paralysis within a week, he'd be ok.  He was about 5 or 6 then.

He made a full reciovery and lived on to 21.

I'm only saying as maybe your lovely little cat could use a tiny bit more time to see if the swelling

goes down.  But I appreciate I'm not a vet and they know best, I just thought how sad it is and

if there was a chance, bless him.

If he's starting with jaundice though, Fishie, that on its own can be very hard to treat, I had a cat with that and he died in my arms, so with the other injuries, its not fair to Kiku. Thinking of you today xxxxx

Ohhhhhh awwwww im so sorry. I really thought he would recover,,,awww bless you. Its such a beautiful picture. I have experienced the pain having to do the last final act of kindness. He will be up there playing with the other lovely cats and looking down on you with love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

RIP Kuki, you did your best for him but he's just too tired and needs to say goodbye. It's so difficult isn't it? we all know how it feels on here, so we are here for you if you want us.
