Oh dear, I've just realised I haven't made my Christmas cake !

I didn't make one last year because I made 2 the year before,  I have completely forgotten to do it this year, do you think it is too late or will it be OK if I make one this weekend and keep feeding it.   Personally I don't like it, but my men folk will go nuts if they haven't got one and the ones in the shops are really expensive and not quite like homemade.

I have noooo idea what you could do with the left over brandy CG.....send it to me and I'll look after it until I can think of something ...

No it didn't Smiley Sad they had the get together and a couple were no shows (the ones they were worried about) but the one that took them to the party swears they wouldn't do anything like that...it's upset a lot of the group and they've all decided that there will be no more house parties for a while but they will still go out together into town instead....

It's been a very steep learning curve for all involved I think Smiley Indifferent

Well, it doesn't look too promising for the no show people and of course the people who took them along would think they were trustworthy, or they wouldn't have them as friends, would they.

As you say, a learning curve for all concerned, to  just not put temptation in peoples way, because you never know.

Oh dear, I've just realised I haven't made my Christmas cake !

Managed to get a cake last night and I found a bottle of brandy in the cupboard so I have just fed the cake and its all wrapped up ready for its next feed.

I priced up the ingrediants for making one and it was cheaper to buy one.  £2.00 for sugar alone. Lifes too short.

Will still make mince pies and chocolate log as normal.

I have never had a soggy cake I think the idea is not to put in too much booze at one time.

I usually make a half size one as so much other food !!!

Often make it on "stir up Sunday" and find just enough dried fruit in the back of the cupboard from last time which cheers up with a soak/feed Woman Wink

I once made a Christmas cake for a French lady, it was 12" square, and had a lot of icing and a nice decoration on it. She ate the whole thing in a WEEK!! her and her son were fruit cake mad!!!!! I had to mix the fruit etc up in a washing up bowl....

it was nice to know it was appreciated anyway268.gif

Now look what you've gone and made me do!!  I've got to do an online order now, just to get a (lge) bottle of brandy to make a Christmas cake.

It's all your fault!! Smiley Sad
