Need Advice re Ankle Support Problem!

I purchased an Ankle Support Sock (actually for my dog) - to prevent him licking/chewing a sore on the front of his paw.  We previously used an ordinary sock which seemed fine, but was more awkward to keep on, so this Support Sock seemed perfect.

However, I have the impression it is causing irritation.  Looking at the information on the box it says that some individuals may be sensitive to the rubbers used in the product.

Also adds, not to wear while sleeping, anyone know why this may be?  As obviously we have left it on overnight too.

Do hope someone will have experience from using these products, and be able to give some additional advice.

Thank you,

amethyst

If you wore while sleeping, you wouldn't need any support as you would be putting no weight on. In order to be supportive it needs to be quite snug and can often feel uncomfortable/tight and can get hot and irritated when it s been worn for some time, that's from experience on myself. I expect it would be the dame with your dear dog. It might be he's wearing it too long at a time causing the irritation especially on his fur would be even hotter?

Need Advice re Ankle Support Problem!

i agree with clair i often have to wear one as my ankle gives way were i broke it and i always have to remove at night bacause

a  you do not need support at night

b  i think it to give your leg skin nerves etc a rest from the pressure

but yes it can become very warm under the support but never having used one on a dog i can only presume it is roughly the same.Smiley Happy

Hello Claire,  Thank you so much for your response, and explaining what unfortunately I did not understand.  It now makes such obvious sense, and I do appreciate helping me to understand.

Grateful thanks,

Hello Cookiecook,  Just seen your reply too.  Again, my appreciation, what you say makes perfect sense, and I do now feel that the same applies to my dog wearing it.  So will now remove and only use for shorter periods of time.

Thank you,

amethyst

Need Advice re Ankle Support Problem!

It is very difficult to prevent a dog from licking an injury....virtually impossible...

The only sure thing is to use one of those plastic cones that attach to the dogs collar ....they are lightweight but do tend to bash into things when dog is wearing them.

The dog can wear them all the time and they are effective ........they do look a bit odd though...
