In order to make me actually sit down and do something constructive this winter I am going to make my own Christmas cards, however I am looking for blank cards that have holes in the front oval, circular or square, I have looked on ebay but I dont know what they are called so I end up looking at all sorts of things but what I want,
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I have done a lot of upcycling of furniture lately changing our bedroom from a mismatch of furniture to all matching also a bit of decoupage, I love pen and ink drawing as well and thought I would try something different this winter.

The most important thing, that I couldn't manage without is good quality double sided sticky tape. Wet glue will often make your card buckle - if I have to use wet glue I use a clear gel glue that dries pretty fast. I find that P Stick just isn't up to the job and that things fall off.
A good, preferably metal ruler is another essential. I have a couple of stainless steel rulers and an old sheet of laminated glass that I use for cutting and scoring on.
If you want to put a greeting on a card "peel offs" are useful and all sorts of messages can be found. Keep them in the fridge and they will be less likely to stretch and go out of shape when you try to get them off the backing.
A scoring tool will help if you need to crease the card. You can get all sorts of fancy scoring boards with grooves at various intervals, but a scoring tool and a ruler will get you started. It is much easier to get a good clean fold if you score the card first. An empty ballpoint pen will make an adequate scoring tool - no need to spend a fortune.
A chunky needle (kept in a cork, or a blob of blu-tack) can be useful to help lift the backing off double sided tape.
I use cheap gel pens from A**a to colour in - you can get a huge pack of assorted colours for a couple of pounds.

Thanks Stroppy will get rid of the pva then, I have a metal ruler somewhere and a laminated sheet, leather needle - check, not doing too bad then I think,
I bought a couple of lidded boxes this morning to keep it all in but it sounds as though I will need another one.
I am getting quite exited now want to get started but will wait until I get it all.
My husband will be pleased, he has just got over me turning our bedroom shabby chic,

Thats it I've done it, been out bought loads of bits and pieces, its all laid out on the bed ready to go, but where do I start, I will say I am arty as I have been drawing and painting for years but now I am just looking at it all and thinking

you have laid it all out?
so it all looks pretty?
now you pour over each and every item
picking it up lovingly
looking at all sides,
stroke it a little
and gently lay it back down
shuffle them around some more so they look even better and the order makes sense
lable each box they will be stored in
place in each box
and look adoringly at the stack of neatly labelled boxes
and sit back with a satisfied smile on yoru face
that is what i would do
i know nothing about actually using them

if you are making for people you know well you could try drawing little things that mean something to them, a pet or house or charature of them, add other things personal if you can
