They're fab to watch in flight/catching prey are'nt they Rhubarb but by gawd the screech owls round here scare the beejeebers out of you with the noise they make if your out at night 🙂

Ahh, I love owls and occasionally I've been lucky enough to see them in the wild.

Look who returned this morning

That is a beautiful sight Rhubarb :-x

The last time I saw an Owl close up and in flight was many years ago now, before I married and had children. Me, ex and a friend went on a little night hike in the country here in Kent, and we saw several Owls, it was a lovely sight and one to treasure since I've never seen any since.

I don't think here where I live now, we'd get Owls really, but would really love to see another one 😄

We do get a bit of wildlife round here, i heard a corn crake quite a few years ago and it scared me to death as it was dusk , think it had lost its way though. There are a few owls round here, a relation has them nesting on his farm, but i have never heard a screech owl, Stan.

There is a wallaby on the loose round Pilling/ Winmarleigh, which is quite close to me, the police didn't believe the sightings at first, but someone got a photo of it crossing the road and we get big cat sightings every so often.

Lots of Barn Owls died over the Winter months into the Spring as the weather was so severe that the prey they normally eat stayed underground so many of them starved 😞

Maybe many of them had to venture further afield to find food.  Hope this chap does well.  I love owls particularly Barn Owls they almost look otherworldly when you see them fly at night.

Funny how we love the owls but not the sparrow hawks!

'Cos owls are round and soft whereas hawks are sharp and pointed.:|

I can hear them in the trees but never seen one yet.

We love owls because they take their prey elsewhere and eat it, sparrowhawks take it out of your garden, take it down on the lawn, and scoff it:O:_|

All birds are beautiful no matter what their eating habits.

Rhubarb, I didn't realise you were very close to Winmarleigh - that's where I take children from my son's old junior school for their activity week every October.  It's a long way to come from Essex but the people at the PGL centre there are lovely.

I'll give a general wave in all directions next time I'm there!

Where I used to work, I would sometimes be on my own during the evenings, washing coaches.

A barn owl was a regular visitor, often sitting on a branch or the mirror of a coach and just watching me.  Once he fathomed out that I liked him and certainly meant him no harm, he would sit there for ages and I would talk to him.   The depot was out in the countryside so it was quiet in the evenings.  I missed that lovely owl when I left.

Fishie. The coach firm my husband works for is quite close to there as well, there would probably be room for your coach also.

Well I never Rhubarb, fancy that.  Could be useful sometime if for any reason I can't stay in my usual accommodation.  Where I stay there is room for my coach right outside and I just leave it there for the week as the group don't need it whilst at PGL.  I have a week to do what I like as my boss leaves me and coach up there as it's so expensive in fuel to bring it back, then up there again a few days later and, being October, they don't need it desperately as we aren't so busy then.

Who does he work for Rhubarb, I've probably seen them about whilst there.

I usually go to Blackpool and explore all around there, Lytham, Cleveleys, Fleetwood etc, but I've been to Winderemere on the train for the day too and last year I had a ride on another coach to Southport which was a great day.  I ride about on the trams and buses and test out all the swimming pools, but I don't test out all those scary-looking rides in Blackpool!

Sorry to thread-nap!
