2010......Grant broke his arm playing football. Cast for the whole of the Summer Holidays.
2011......Blair badly broke his right arm playing football. It had to be pinned and plated.
2012......Blair badly broke his left arm skateboarding. It had to be pinned and plated.
2013......Last night, Blair fell off his BMX bike and broke a bone in his left elbow and a bone in his right hand.
You couldn't make it up. I have now threatened to encase him in bubble wrap every time he leaves the house!

My catalogue of injuries started when I was 18 months old - I fell out of my cot and broke my right collar bone. I've been accident prone ever since.

Some people break bones some don't. There wereabout 10 of us cousins. 9 of us fell, fought and toppled as kids do. the tenth only had to be sneezed on it seemed to break a bone!.

I have a son who participates in dangerous sports...he has so many accidents, but seems to just keep doing it.
The worst was when he had to be airlifted of a French Alp, as he was snowboarding off piste - & he's a qualified snowboard teacher !
& yes...he had to pay ALL expenses, including the helicopter !...although he does pat extra insurance for dangerous sports.
He was very lucky that time, he nearly lost his arm X-(
Why does he do it....I haven't a clue ?:|

As well as breaking my collar bone, I've also broken my right ankle in three places and I've broken a toe on my right foot. I nearly broke my right wrist as well but I was lucky with that one. I always say that I wasn't put together right in the mixer. Mum always asks if I'm blaming her. Well my arthritis is hereditary and it does come from her side of the family.

It's odd that CB that we both have arthritis from our mother's side of the family. One of my cousins on my mum's side of the family is worse than me and that's saying something.

I've never broken anything (touch wood) but I was accident prone as a child.
But we didn't have skateboards or BMX bikes where we were trying to do tricks etc.
I certainly don't want to do anything which stops my kids wanting to "play" outdoors!
Guess we will just have to deal with all the scrapes and breaks and bumps!

Son had a major injury involving a thigh (muscle and ligaments were torn from the bone, there is a name for it but can't remember what it is) Serious anyway, he was lucky not to end up in a wheelchair. This was from a Motocross race.
After that, he broke his wrist, needing surgery (also due to Motocross racing). Just finished his follow-up treatments at the hospital, then daughter broke her wrist (she just fell over on high heels, a bit "tiddly" one night) :_| As all these mishaps were so close together, the hospital staff all thought it highly amusing and thought I should get my own parking space (that would have saved a lot of money, as hospital parking charges are pretty expensive)!
Then I tumbled down the stairs and hurt my wrist. Instead of any sympathy, dear son says "Ooh - that would have been funny, if you'd broken your wrist too, Mum" 😐

I'm so glad I have daughters who regard walking downstairs as an extreme sport!
Sympathy to Blair as I know elbow breaks are particularly uncomfortable , but for goodness sakes lad, slow down and give your mum a break rather than anymore bits of yourself!

My youngest lad got airlifted off a mountain as well when he went skiing with the school. Boys!!
My eldest Son & Daughter also managed to break the same bone, in the same wrist 1 week apart by acting daft & falling over in the playground at school.

This is a rich life for a person, so many fractures. I would not let out of the house at all, probably. I advise you to accurately choose a new bike looks here on best full suspension mountain bikes https://bikesist.com/best-full-suspension-mountain-bikes/, there are a lot of good bikes that will reduce the risk of falling and damage. But of course this does not mean that you don't need to take a helmet and other protection.
