Poor little thing sounds like a heavy breather at 11 mths old ....... bless her

Aw, have you got Calpol? Is grandma in for a bad night? There's a thing called Carvol or something too isn't there. I think you put it on the blanket or pillowslip to help them breathe. I hope it doesn't last too long.

She smothered in Snuffle babe & it seems to be helping I had a bad night a couple of days ago when it first started but now hers dads back so nights are his responsibility
I've never heard of Carvol ? I did ask the chemist about cough medicine but apparently its not to be given to under 12mth olds
I guess really she's been lucky not to get one before but she looks so sad (& snotty ) the downside to that is she likes to give you kisses

Ooops, just goggled it, it's spelt Karvol.

When my 2 were little I used one of these in their room when they had snuffley snotty colds

Daughter tells me that you can no longer get Carvol capsules - used to be capsules containing a yellow liquid that you would put on their p.j's or on the sheet and they would inhale. Helped keep the nasal passages clear and helped them to breathe and sleep. Snuffle babe is the replacement for Carvol.
Daughter also tells me that chemist's will no longer sell cough mixture for under 5's, despite several well known manufacturers making cough medicines formulated for children.
Hope Imogen is soon better.

Silly me, Yes I have heard of Karvol now I've seen a pic ............ I'd just forgotten
I suppose really that not giving them something (unless really necessary) must help them to develop there own immune system but its a natural instinct to try & help them when their so little isn't it
I remember now why I taught all my own to blow their own noses from an early age

Aww poor Imogen. I hope that she soon feels better. I've just told my mum and she's said 'aw bless her'. Hope that Imogen slept well last night for her dad and I hope that she doesn't have the cold for too long.

Hows the gorgeous little snot monster this morning?...
I hope she managed to sleep a little bit last night

Drop of Eucalyptus oil in bowl of hot water, topped up when necessary, put well away and out of reach always seemed to help.

Ahh, poor baby, hope it doesn't last long.
They have to get these things though to help build an immune system, but it's horrid
when they're so small and can't blow their little teeny noses.

Can you help a 50 something old grandad and tell me how to teach Onions ( our 2 year old grandaughter) to blow her nose? Ive never had any children so it's a mystery to me. She has just had a horrid cold and been a real snot monster, but can we get her to blow her nose? No hope! ( just enjoying a few hours peace while she is at nursery!)

Nelsons do a natural children's cough syrup called Sootha, containing homeopathic Bryonia. You should be able to get it from H&B if you haven't got an independent health shop around. It does say 'from 12 months' on the box, but that's only to comply with EU regulations, it's perfectly safe for Imogen to take.

I do believe you can get some sort of suction contraption for cleaning babies noses. (I don't think I'd use one) In some countries they do it .........................................well, I'll leave it to your imagination!!
