I know i have gone on about radiators before but they drive me nuts. My thermostat on the wall for radiator heat (i presume), i turned it down this morning as radiators seem to be too hot at the moment. It did not make any difference??. I thought this was supposed to regulate the temperature for your radiator heat?. They still seem to be boiling hot??. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?. They are working healthily otherwise.

That's the way my heating works, but it's 25 years old - newer systems should have a thermostat on each radiator, I think.
If there aren't any on the radiators, you may have to get someone in in case the controls have got stuck on hot somehow.

Yes they have them on the radiators too,, its just that the thermostat should do it too surely. Its a modern one on the wall not old or anything.... Thank you Duck for advicing i appreciate it ((()))

It all depends on where your thermostat is sited - if it is in a place that gets no sun, and is chilly, then the radiators will be hot. If it is in a spot that gets the sun most of the day and consequently is pretty warm, you may well find that the radiators are cool and the rest of the house is freezing.
I had the individual controls fitted to our elderly radiators, as we like some rooms warmer than others - they do make a huge differenve.
Sometimes there is also a heat control on the boiler, and turning this down can make the radiators cooler.

Rose, the radiators will be hot until the ambient temperature at the thermostat reaches what it is set at. When it reaches that temperature it will switch off and when the temperature falls a couple of degrees at the thermostat it will switch on again. Far better if you can to set the temperature on each radiator individually thus also saving money as you do not need every room the same heat. You could set your bedroom a bit lower through the day then raise it for an hour before bed and set the thermostat a bit lower as you do not need the house toastie while in bed.

the thermostat could be broken.

Our thermostat governs whether the heating is on/off by the ambient temp in the hall way. Actual radiator temp is governed by the boiler. That is how ours works.

I have stats on the radiators but don't have a room stat at all. The combi boiler also has a temperateure control.

Thanks everyone i think there maybe something wrong with it but its easier as some of you said to adjust individual radiators, as some rooms i use more and its pointless them being heated all the day long.
