Welcome back Miami Beach Babe. Did you have a good time, do you not need a valet/helper for these trips, must take it out of you I'd be a happy volunteer.
What is Miami like, is it more wheelchair friendly than us?
How did you get into doing the job that you do? What DO YOU DO? Clever lady.
Must have been lovely to get some heat into your bones, how are you feeling?

Sorry folks, helpers are supplied in every imaginable shape and form by "the boss".
I get a housekeeper, a cook, a cleaner, a nurse, the company doctor, a driver, and an office junior to fetch and carry. If I allowed it the only thing I would have to do is breathe.
I am accomodated in the "beach guest cottage" - a 4 bed bungalow, with private patio, private heated swimming pool, and access to the private boardwalk and private beach. There is even a mini single person hovercraft so that I can actually go on the beach, and even in the sea.
Did I have a good time - it was flaming hard work as there was a lot to do, and with not being able to sneak off to the beach and play, not a terrible lot of fun. Yes it is exhausting.
What is Miami like - I don't really know, I rarely get to see any of it, I'm either at work in the office block, or on the boss's "property". I don't really get out a lot. I think that Miami is mostly more wheelchair friendly than here - public transport is certainly much more accomodating, but the design of the accessible toilets leaves a huge amount to be desired!
How did I get into the job I do, and what do I do - I write computer software, very specialist computer software designed to meet the very exacting requirements of my clients. It was my main job many years ago. Back in the day we used to write software in wierd languages like Basic, Fortran, Cobol etc. and almost every computer manufacturer had their own slightly different version so that nothing was universal. You wrote programs in something that very vaguely resembled a form of English and then ran a series of programs that translated what you had written into "machine code" that the computer used. This was fine as long as you had the original program, you could alter it, but mostly folks bought the program in just the translated "machine code form", and it was impossible to make changes to it. This forced folks to go back to the original supplier and pay vastly inflated prices for changes. A couple of geeks and I wrote a series of reverse translators that turned the "machine code" back into the original semi English, so we could take any machine code and make changes to the original program. Sadly my co-conspirators crashed their motorbikes and didn't survive, so that left me in sole possession of the reverse translator programs. At about this time, a lot of the firms that had written the original programs went out of business, so there were a lot of folks out there who wanted changes made to their computer software, and only me with the means to do it.
I could charge what I liked, and built up a fiercely loyal client base spread over the world - Miami, New York, Barcelona, Ghent, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Johannesburg, Dusseldorf and many other places.
As the computers themselves became obselete, firms had to replace them with new machines all of which ran on different operating systems, in different computer languages. So folks still wanted their specialist software, so I re-wrote everything, and I have continued to re-write everything on a fairly regular basis. Clients pay an awful lot, have to provide all travel, accomodation, food, support etc. - actually the travel is usually the easy bit as many are in the super luxury bespoke travel business. My boss in Miami has 3 private jets (as well as far more money than sense).
I actually hate it, but it pays well, and I keep doing it as whilst I have my loyal clients I have a guarantee of both having an income and being able to work when and where I want on my own terms.
I also have a number of idiot clients who have no idea how to run a modern office computer system, and have no idea how to make the major "off the shelf" computer programs produce the results that they want. I do training for them, teach them how to manage their computer systems, supplying them with a few little specialist programs to help them keep things running smoothly. I charge them a lot, but it is far cheaper than writing complete computer systems for them. Mostly in Europe, so I just go for a day, or a couple of days at most.
Yes it was good to enjoy the warmth and the sunshine. Saw my spinal surgeon, mostly for a check up. Stocked up on pain killers and blood glucose monitoring supplies.
How am I - tired, extremely fed up with my main employer here in the U.K. who is being a total pain. I am fed up with waiting for this operation, scared that the operation will be cancelled because "the hole" is infected again, scared that the operation won't work and that no-one has a clue what to do if it doesn't work.
Apart from that, I am fine, and not yet ready to give up.
