Great Yarmouth

I'm going there not for long just for a couple of days next month!

Does anyone have any advice about nice places to go/visit/eat while there?

I'm going with one of my friends from my yoga class.  We are staying in a chalet in Scratby which is owned by a relative of one of my neighbours in the flat.

Just looking forward to having a nice break by the sea 🙂

Thank you in advance for any information x

I will be there from Friday afternoon (5th) until Sunday morning - not long, but enough time hopefully for a paddle in the sea, fish and chips, ice-cream and candy floss!!

Are there any nice quirky shops - clothes, antiques etc?

Pubs that are good maybe with live music.  Any bootsales lol?!

Thank you Rose :-x  I think these little excursions are good for the soul and healing for the heart - I hope so!

OP - are you driving to GY?  If you are and are on the A12 to get there, there are some lovely places to visit on route. Southwold and Walberswick are lovely and unspoilt and both on the coast. Southwold has a vintage market in beach huts just off the beach car park and also has a great antique centre and some quirky independent shops.

There seems to be a craze around this neck of the woods for vintage fairs at the moment.  If you were here longer I could send you to some real gems!! 🙂

Kessingland boot sale is worth a visit on Sunday.

There is a big 2 floor TK M*xx in the industrial park just outside of town.

Don't know much about GY other than that as don't usually get further than TK M and last time I was there it was to go to the circus.

Have fun

Most excellent info thank you all :-x

I've not planned the route yet.  I don't often drive far out of Stevenage lol!  This is a big adventure/expedition for me!!  :^O

I'm sure time will run out before we run out of things to do.  Its a good way to test out the drive to GY and the chalet which I got at mate rate so guaranteed to go back for a longer trip after this one at some point.

Linda likes bootsales too so won't be a problem doing them,  vintage fairs are always a draw for me as are quirky and interesting shops!

I love the seaside vibe having grown up in Herne Bay and going to places like Margate and Broadstairs.  Just to get some sea air will be fab!

There is a shop where you can watch rock being made. I found the process quite interesting.

They also sell lovely chocolate covered strawberries.

Hi Leo, its this Friday we are going.  So exciting!  I will report back!

Ahh Rose I love Broadstairs - I went to the technical college there.  I must try and get back down there for the folk festival which I think is in August.  Its a marvellous event.

You never really appreciate the wonder of living near the seaside until you move away from it.  In Stevenage I'm a long way from the coast and I do miss it.
