Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced fridge freezer please.
I'm looking for a frost-free freezer with a 50/50 split between the fridge and the freezer.
I went to get some chicken pieces out of the fridge and everything has defrosted - I only stocked up with meat and fish on Friday so I have to dump the whole lot.
I suppose I should be grateful that's the three over. The boiler went 10 days ago and has to be replaced - a special order from Germany should be here by the end of the week, until then no hot water!
The TV packed up last Wednesday while I was watching Whitechapel, I said to OH it's a bit dark, he replied yes that's the nature of the programme, no I said, the screen and it was - very dark, then it got darker until it was a black screen
Add to that the quarterly electricity bill and water rates, plus £100 vets bill and I'm feeling very fragile.
Oh and to cap it all OH has 'man flu'
Somebody pass me wine and chocklit please before I cry.

I could cook some of it, but have no way of storing it. It's all well defrosted, so it's not going to keep, especially the fish.

sausage and bacon for breakfast, fish for lunch and meat for dinner for the next two days at least, should make a small dent in it. Have you not got s friend or neighbour with a little space in their freezer to spare. You can freeze anything once it's been cooked.

I have recently bought a BEKO. I think it's well made but a little noisy.

I bought a zanussi fridge freezer a couple of months ago, its 70% fridge 30% freezer ....... I didn't actually buy it because of the make but I'm very happy with it, infact I really only went to buy a fridge as like you ours ours packed up without warning, I wanted a bigger than average fridge as what we had got matched our freezer but choice was limited, the one we got really was because it was the right price & the clinching deal was that it was available for next day delivery, its 6ft tall so I can only just reach the top shelf

Sounds like it could be the thermostat that has gone on your old fridge/freezer.
If it is less than 5 years old could be worth getting an engineer in as a replacement thermostat would cost less than £50.00 fitted.
Otherwise we use Hotpoint and have had no problems so far (touchwood) although Samsung and LG are getting very good reviews and if we ever had to change ours we would go for a Samsung now.
Look at ordering through either TopCashback or Quidco so you can get some money back - every little helps!

I think my old fridge-freezer will be packing up soon, so I'm looking out for a new one (but not 6 foot - I'd need a stepladder!). My biggest problem is that I really, really, really hate glass shelves, and I can't find anything without them.

They all seem to have glass shelves now. I preferred the wire ones.

Yes! Glass is nasty heavy dangerous stuff, it's hard and you can break things on it if you're not careful. And if something spills or leaks it spreads everywhere and everything on the shelf is affected - yuk!
I'm glad I'm not the only one!
