Fixing curtain pole

I need to fix a curtain pole above a pair of patio doors. The 3 x fixing brackets each have 2 no. 6mm holes.

Could someone more knowledgeable than me please advise…

What diameter & length of screws should I use (it will be fixed to a concrete lintel)?

… and it probably seems a dumb question (sorry) but what size wall plug and drill bit?

Thank you for any help but I’ve just decorated and don’t now want to make a mess of the wall 😊

Fixing curtain pole

Hopefully your curtains are up by now! But just in case it helps anyone else:

Determine what the wall is made of (e.g. plaster, stone).

This tells you the type of drill/drill bit you need.

For strength, with a curtain rail, I would personally choose the thickest/longest screws that fit into your bracket, and could reasonably go into the wall.

The drill bit should be slightly smaller diameter than the screws, to ensure a tight fit.

There are lots of YT videos to help you gain confidence once you know the wall type.
