I felt flat as a pancake yesterday. On reading the paper shortly after it said yesterday (6th January) was officially the most depressing day of the year. I feel a bit better today but only I think because it didn't rain ALL day!!
Does anyone have any low cost 'feelgood' tips to help perk us all up - if you need perking like me lol!!
eg cooking ideas, easy crafting, social stuff, active stuff, funny stories, good books, poems etc. Or anything that makes you smile or warms your heart that you could pass on

Going through my wardrobe and recycling all the clothes I will not wear anymore just taking up space made me feel good. New year, new clothes. That was my own pick me up

There's a bit of a cost to this one - but I cheered myself up after work by picking up some daffodils at Asda: £1.50, which isn't quite in the spirit of spending less this month admittedly - but now I feel like spring is on its way, even though it's raining freezing rain outside!
Also - cleaning the oven: hate doing it, but so nice when it's done. Going through the wardrobe and getting rid of anything I didn't wear last year to put out for the charity shop. Reading by candlelight and pretending I'm somewhere more exciting than my sofa. That's about as good as I can do for the moment...

Hi I get invite a close friend for lunch or coffee, make something nice or just make a cake, and light some nice vanilla candles and a fire in the lounge... and settle down to putting the world to rights, and have a good laugh in the process.
This picks me up every time.

Hi, exercise is good too. Walking or put some music on and dance or get dusting to it.
A while ago I joined a local women's walking group. I found them on streetlife, a local community website. It's good to get out and walk and meet new people, we all enjoy it.
I also try to swim every week. Sometimes I really don't feel like it, but make myself go and swim my target 64 lengths. I coax myself on, kid myself I'll just do 40 lengths, then when I get there, go on another 10 etc. Makes you feel excellent when you achieve your target and good all round too.
If you want a good laugh, try looking for damn you auto correct, guaranteed tears of laughter and there is always daft cats doing daft things on You tube.
This time of year can be depressing, but the shortest day is behind us, the days are getting longer and spring is just round the corner Bulbs have already started to grow in my garden

I always think of those less fortunate and it makes me appreciate what I have. Also getting out for a walk is good exercise and there's usually someone to talk to. Or sitting quietly with a good book; all these things give me a lift.

I never really feel miserable this time of the year, it's the rest of the year, sorry I jest.
I like to go for a nice walk down the lanes around us, then come back put my feet up with a bar of chocolate and a good DVD.
The bunch of Daffs idea is good too

I know the feeling Alison i have been feeling just the same and it was an odd day yesterday and the day before.
I normally try to pamper myself. I buy a face mask,, a nice smelly one, get something nice for dinner,, have a nice bath perhaps with little candles and relax. I try to think myself a bit better,, thinking of things en little ones to look forward too.
