I bought some lovely John Lewis glass tumbers at the boot sale all in their box, I only realised when I got them home that some of them have dishwasher marks on them like a white 'bloom'. Are they salvageable please!! They are so nice so I do hope so. If anyone can help I would be grateful thank you xx

I have never manage to find a solution myself. Sometimes it comes from the detergent being quite abrasive, essentially it blasts the dirt off and has the effect of sandblasting over time, particularly if they have a % lead crystal. Sorry I can't be more positive

It might be a hard water deposit, try wiping with vinegar.

Do you have enough salt or rinse aid in your washer?

Try soda crystals. That might work if it's not too bad. Or dw them again making sure you have salt & rinse aid in & use a good make dw tablet.

Not sure if this will work on dishwasher marks cos I don't have a dishwasher but a great cleaner for glass in particular and china is to put some Bio clothes washing liquid in a bowl of luke warm water and leave items to soak for 2-3 hours. Works great on tea stained cups too.

I think the bloom is a lot of 'etch' marks, & therefore not possible to remove
However, there are a lot of clever peeps here, so don't give up hope!! XX
