Christmas TV

Just purchased the Christmas TV guide and had a very quick flick through.

Must say I am looking forward to two favourite sitcoms that are being reinvented.

Still open all hours - is a one off with Granville and his son

Birds of a Feather - new 6 parter being shown on ITV.

Two of my favourite - just hope they can be just as good as the originals.

Also looking forward to Call the Midwife.

Sure there is plenty more to look forward to - will study in much more detail nearer the time.

Others I wish would come back are Hi De Hi, Are you being served, Only fools and Horses. There must be more.....love the sitcoms from the 70's and 80's

Are there any others that you would like to see have an update?

I must be the only one who doesn't like these old sitcoms. They were good in their day but very dated now. Not sure about bringing them back to life.

I don't mind seeing the originals again and I'll certainly watch the new run ones but I wouldn't mind betting they won't be anywhere near as good or funny as the old ones.

We've just been watching repeats of The Good Life, which we enjoyed when it was first on.  Some of the clothes are dated, but as for the humour, if it's funny, it's funny.  Other favourites of mine were Fawlty Towers and Yes Minister/Prime Minister.  I wouldn't like to see a remake of any of them though, not a fan of remakes.  What we need are new sitcoms of the same high quality.

They don't seem to put as much effort into providing good entertainment at Christmas as they used to.

I'm looking forward to watching Call the Midwife on Christmas Day.

I remember the Liver Birds.  Another one I liked which was also set in Liverpool was called Bread.

It would be nice if they could make some brand new programmes instead of re hashing the old ones.  I shall be recording Still open all hours though, it is new, not the old programme I did enjoy that.

I was looking forward to watching the my family Christmas show the other night I thought it was a new one, nope about 5 years old, grr

must be cheap this time of the year just keep showing anything Christmassy thats been on eleventy million times before.
