Has anyone ever had a Chest xray at their hospital?. I have to go up to a walk in centre tomorrow and get it done. Do you have to undress?,, or do you just take top bits off and stand in front of the machine while they do it?.
I just wondered as ive not had one before. Im hoping i dont have to wait for ages at our Hospital.

You get changed in a cubicle. You take your top and bra off and put on a hospital gown (with the split at the back). You stand in front of the machine usually with your hands on your hips and your elbows coming forward. You hold your breath when told, until they say ok (only about 5 seconds) they tell you to wait a minute while they check it's a good picture and then you're told to get changed again and go.

I had to have a chest x-ray last month. They just asked me to take my bra off and they said that I could leave my top on. I was only in there for a few minutes and everything was fine.
Hope that you go on alright Rose.

they'll ask you to take off anything that has metal,
bras, jewellry etc
anything that would show on an xray

Phworr! I wanna be a radiographer when I grow up!
Jokes aside there's absolutely nothing in it. I had an all over body scan when I had a serious car smash about eight years which takes rather longer.
You'll be fine - there's absolutely nothing to worry about.

I wanted to be a Radiographer too, well one of many things i wanted to do.
Went this morning,,did not have to wait long at all. And yes there was nothing to it only a few seconds. I have to wait two weeks for my results.
Thank you.
