Ooo she won't be allowed out in the dark Maggie ...... she'll only be allowed out in daylight & if I'm at home, I'd be scared she had an accident & I wouldn't be there
I'm a very protective mummy

Noooo they haven't been outside yet.......they are only 16 weeks old although I seem to have been their slave forever
They won't be left out at night either, none of my cats have...they have all been trained to come back when I whistle them....
the neighbours were astounded when I first stood outside whistling and the cats came running back...
The boys already respond to a whistle....I do it when I feed them so they associate it with food....works a treat.
They both have collars with bells.very noisy bells actually but I know they will still hunt...just hope they create minimal carnage......

I don't have a cat anymore sadly lost mine last Christmas and it wouldn't be fair to have one now with the nutty puppy I have had 4 cats altogether over the years, 2 at the same time, then a stray then my last one, and none of them ever went out at night and the 3 earlier ones had bells with snap catches(to stop them getting strangled and the last one had a bleeper called a pounce alarm so that if she went to jump at a bird the alarm went off, frustrating for her but great for the birds. Much as I love cats they can be devastating on birds,
sadly they don't want to eat them just play with them and it can be quite gruesome, I will never forget the pidgeon that next doors cat deposited on my bonnet, no head and no feet, yuk. My last cat responded to just calling her name, and was far more obedient than the dog. Just because you have cats doesn't mean you can't take care of the wildlife and do everything you can to alert them that the cat is about.
Having said all that the last cat we had slept for 23 hours a day and the other hour was spent eating haha.
