Just as a matter of interest, I decided I would like to know what blood group I am. When I saw my nurse on Tuesday, I asked her how I could find it out and she said I can't!! No-one is allowed to tell me. My only options are to either pay for a private blood test OR to become a blood donor to find it out. Due to health issues I can't become a donor. I can't believe my GP can't tell me. Anyone else had this problem?

you can ask to see your own medical records
i have never heard of someone being told no
i asked many years ago and it was written down in a wee card for me
it was specifically for that, as they had them, i assumed many people ask

You could donate an organ, they have to check what group you are before you do that. Does that help?
It seems the only three ways are if you give blood, if you need to receive blood or if you donate an organ
I know mine because I've received blood.

But it says on the NHS site that your GP has no reason to test for your blood type, so wouldn't have it. It was the hospital that tested and told me mine.

Someone told me that when you are born, they automatically test to see what your blood group is and the GP will have it on record. Maybe I was told wrong. Just wondering which organ I can donate.........

Hey, I'm getting a thing that looks like a wart, on my finger. Is this what happens once you turn 59? If so, CB had better watch out in May!!

Things must have changed since my day!!
Everybody should have, & need their Blood Group, in case of accident.
& yes, I know they can give Group O as a temporary ' fix '...but not much good if you're Group AB.
Insist you are either told, or ask for blood to be taken...you only need a wee bit.
It could save your life...plus, if you are the rarest ( Group AB, you're blood, if you chose to donate, would be so so valuable to saving life )

If you have given birth it will be on your records.

any dandelions outside?
the stem and root has a white sticky substance inside
apply that directly to the wart
it will get rid of it

I was told mine when I had my son, and then I forgot so I asked my doctor and he told me, dappy ole bat only forgot again I know it is the most common one typical. Why would it be a secret. I am sure if you have one of those medical braclets it would be on there, OH because of his job has his printed on his ID card along with a big message saying 'if I am taken ill please test for Weils disease'

Well they tell you when you are pregnant. Found out mine when I donated blood as a student. B neg.
When i had kids they told me again, big needle in hand. The kids were automatically typed at birth - can't remember which was which but one has my group with a +ve rhesus factor and the other OH's blood group with a -ve rhesus factor!. Certainly got it well mixed up.
