While the basis of the Christian faith is eternal life, the Hindu religion has other ideas. Apart from worshiping more than one daity, they also happen to believe in reincarnation, that every creature comes back as something else, each time gaining a highter place.
If reincarnation were a gospel fact and our souls had a chance to improve on our previous lives, if you had a say in the matter, presuming you were to return as another person, what would you be a second time round? Would you be happy to be born a woman or would you prefer to be a man (or vice versa), and along what path in life would you follow?
For myself I would be happy to come back as a man, but I would prefer to be an Australian, driving a road train up to Darwin. I would also have three sons to whom I'd give the freedom to choose their own station in life. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy with my lot, with a true home-spun girl - no place like England, but I do sometimes wonder whether, when I got the green light to go to Australia back in '73 things would have turned out differently. Whether I should have followed my nose. Too late now, too set in my ways, and far too old to start again..
Are you happy with the way your lives have turned out or do you wonder whether things would have been different had you married a banker instead of a bus driver.
