So ladies.....are we all prepared for the ghosts and ghoulies that will be upon us this evening?
I dont particularly like children knocking on my door.....and when my son was about 7 (he is now 15) I allowed him to dress up and go knocking on my friends and neighbours door.........I had previously asked everybody he went to whether they were happy for this to happen.....I didn't just let him descend on strangers. Of course because I asked them they were perfectly happy with this.
I shall be buying a small packet of goodies just in case.....I dont mind, particularly if I see the children have their parents or an adult with them supervising. After about 8pm though I will make sure I turn the lights down low to pretend I am not in as I feel that after 8pm the little ones shouldnt be out and about and in bed instead. Anything after 8pm tend to be the terrible teenagers.
Of course the big questions is...........................what to do with the sweets not given out 🙂 yum yum I will buy the sweets that I like, just in case!
The local shops nearby have, for the last week or so, had notices on the door saying that eggs and flour will not be sold to anyone under the age of 18
I do have a pumpkin here.............but I shall actually be cooking with it rather than hollow it out.
Have fun.....................................

I will leave the OH to deal with them and hand the goodies out; any left over, he can have, seeing as I still have toothache, LOL I agree about any that come after 8p.m. pretend to not be in. We don't usually get many on this street as they are mostly retired people or got grown-up kids. Ive noticed that each year, a bigger fuss is being made of Hallowe'en; are we following in the footsteps of the USA or something? I went in a charity shop fitting room a couple of weeks ago and kept getting tangled up in mock spiders webs that adorned the mirrors![]()

We don't get any trick or treaters as we live on a country road with no lights or pavements. We have some very strange neighbours though! ![]()

Won't be answering the door this year, worry too much about the cats getting out. So it'll be lights out and pretending I'm not in.

We are going out so they wont bother us ........we may scare a few children though

We have a sign that goes up in the window, devised by the local police and paper, it says
No tricks, No treats, no thanks, but have a lovely evening.
It has worked for the last 4 years, We do this because otherwise the dogs would be barking all the time and it is unsetteling for them.
I am not a great fan of halloween any way, we only have a couple of tiny children in our road so it probably wont happen tonight, fingers crossed.

There's an informal understanding in our village that it's only OK to knock on the door of a house that has a pumpkin in the window.
We put one out relatively early so we get the littlies and take it in when we run out of chocolates or we've just had enough. I'm happy to give a bit of choccy to the five year olds who've all dressed up, not so happy when it's teens who've made no effort at all.

Mike...............that seems a perfectly lovely way to know whether you are wanted or not.
Sweeties now purchased - all the ones that I love so that if they are not claimed................welll that will be supper for me LOL.
I tried to buy more pumpkins today - for eating and not hollowing out but there were none to be found. Shame as I love to keep them in the garage for a few months and use them to actually eat.
I shall be roasting pumpkin this weekend - some to eat plain roasted a bit like roast potatoes and the rest will be roasted and made into spicy soup

I live on a main road but don't get any trick or treaters. There are so many organised events here & think a lot of them go to them. We are going to Abbotsbry Gardens at five which will be illuminated & the kids get a prize for being dressed up & they can have their faces painted. It just needs to stay dry!

This is similar to what we have in the window. Hopefully we wont have any as its lashing down at the moment.

We've had parents bringing their kids from all over the area to our road tonight. I didn't think that there were so many kids of all ages on this estate because the majority of people round here, their kids are grown up and they've flown the nest. We've run out of treats we've had that many. I've got fed up with it now not that I was ever enamoured with it.

Last year, we just had the little chap who lives across the road. The year before, we didn't have any. I think that we've had nearly everyone aged 18 and under from the whole town!! It does seem to have quietened down a lot though now. I'm hoping they've finished for the night and that their parents have taken them home.

They've cleared off gone from here and we didn't have heavy rain. I think that the parents must have got fed up and they've taken them home.

Well........here we are at nearly 9pm and only had one knock on the door tonight............so got a humungous bag of sweets left over.............oh well...................guess I am going to have to do something about getting rid of the sweets.
