Morning,
I got my lovely 2 year old rescue cat a year ago, she's settled in brilliantly and is so happy with us.
I've always been aware of a cat at the back of us that she doesn't get on with, I've noticed it picking on her before.
Well, yesterday we didn't see her all day, finally showed up at 7pm - totally out of character.
She's just not right. Normally makes all sorts of noises & miaows, but is as quiet as anything. Isn't eating her food, doesn't want me touching her at all. Normally rubs against my leg and wants tickling but she's having none of it. She just isn't herself.
We're thinking she's had a bad fight with another cat and is a bit withdrawn as a result.
Do you agree? Can any of you suggest anything to settle her again? She's just not herself..

Thank you to you all for your lovely kind words.
Eleanor (Ellie) cat is at the vets now having a small operation, so I will let you know how it goes.
The antibiotics she's been on for a couple of days have really perked her up
Will keep you posted
🙂

Wonderful news. Animal are surprisingly adaptable to their misfortunes. The first overnight stay was the crucial factor. I had three cats at one stage of which one of them used to lie on it's back and used to love being cradled like a little baby

Hi all,
UPDATE:
Ellie the cat had an xray and it was determined that where the tooth had come out she had an abscess, hence the pain she was in. They removed the root too. She's on antibiotics & pain relief for 2 weeks...
And whilst under anaesthetic she had a good clipping too as she's got loads of long black hair and it was a bit knotted.
So, her visit to the vets entailed a dentist treatment and a good hair cut!
She seems happier in herself - back to lying on the floor with her legs in the air wanting to be tickled on her tummy, back to the old cat I know & love...hard to believe I was never a 'cat person'
Thank you to you all for your kind messages

Glad that Ellie is feeling a lot better now Rachel. It's a big worry when a much loved pet is under the weather.
