Happy New Year Peter

Thank you, and same to you.
Do I know you under a previous identity? I don't recall seeing your user name before, although that could just be my memory failing...!! 🤣

Alba gu bràth John!
I'm a little late this month Peter, been a tad busy!
LAST!! 😎

I think we're all getting very busy at the moment aren't we?
For me, been sorting out a mysterious glitch on my website. The link to the admin page stopped working. My IT bod sorted it after a lot of head scratching - turns out the "skin" provider had changed the way it was done but without letting either of us know... In other words, a different link was needed.
Now, how were we supposed to know that if they don't say?!?!?

Telepathy obviously!
Things have gotten busy in terms of sales recently too... for us this time last year, it was dead as corduroy! Now all of a sudden, we've sold more, and more of our higher value items as well. Years of selling on eBay has been weird!
Last!

I think I'll stick to using my own website, though... no constantly changing rules and fees and listings are permanently good until sold. Less hassle...

Website is trickling out, but had a bit of a rapid uptick in items selling on eBay... though again they have decided to "improve" listings by not allowing you to click on the Sold and see who and when an item sold quickly! Also checking feedback is also now a bugger, click on the Feedback, drags you down to the bottom of the listing where it displays the last few, rather than letting me see all my feedback with a single click, I now have to go to the bottom of the listings and click the Feedback link down there instead
EBAY, COULD YOU PLEASE STOP MESSING AROUND WITH STUFF THAT DOESN'T NEED FIXING OR "IMPROVING" AND KEEP THINGS AS THEY ARE!!!
*Ahem* LAST!!

That just convinces me to not try listing on here again at any time!
Now... here's something you might not expect to be able to photograph from a moving train; a Russian submarine flying the Ukrainian flag... It belongs to a museum and is moored at Rochester in Kent.

Somebody clearly has a sense of humour.
*Psst*............ LAST!!

Yes, and I like their style. It's exactly the sort of thing I'd do myself if I was the owner of it.

Yup, give that man a raise!!
Seems that another Beeched station might get reopened, just got an order and saw that the address was a 'Station Street', which always peaks my interest when a street or road etc has 'station' in the name! So I did some digging and from laster year, there has been interest in getting Castle Gresley railway station, along with others along the line, reopened to passenger trains... which I will definitely use! Now if only they would reopen more places, we can have a proper transportation network once again!

That's very true - it would be very useful to have some of these links re-opened. Especially those with a major town at one end or the other. In this case, two - I'm guessing from a quick look at the map that this is the Coalville line you're talking about?
I've been over it on a railtour about 35 years ago. It definitely wouldn't take as much effort as some to re-instate.

I find many places just need a bit of spit and polish, but others need a full rebuild, which is a shame, though as we know the point of the report was to be the first step into eradicating the whole railway network, so we're lucky any remain!

That's not quite the point of the Beeching report although it certainly had a big effect in that way. I'd recommend reading the various features in the current issue of Rail for an in depth look at the report in the full context.

I'll certainly read, though after the set of cuts in the first report, they were going to commit even more cuts, but the takeover by Labour halted that, just a pity Labour went back on their promise to reverse the Beeching Cuts and instead put in somebody who despised the railways even more!

Meanwhile, talking of railways... here's a nice looking station:
13-03-2023 1:25 PM
Nice, where'd you clock that one?
13-03-2023 10:16 PM
It's St Pancras; surprised you didn't recognise it...?
Here's the one next door to it...
14-03-2023 1:35 PM
Lol, I knew, just having a laugh, I took a full panoramic photo of it whilst I was there for the queen's funeral! Did you go a little further down the road and take a photo of the King's Cross Underground Railway Station?
14-03-2023 9:42 PM
Not on this occasion, no. I was in a bit of a rush so it was a case of straight out of KGX, snap those three pictures ( which was unplanned but the light was so good I just had to! ) then head for the Met Line to Farringdon and then Thameslink to London Bridge.
