Anyone know how to remove the Gemini icon from the gmail toolbar?

Smart features are turned off but the icon's still there.

Hi, to remove the Gemini icon from the Gmail toolbar, try the following:

1. Turn off Gemini in your Google account settings

Go to:

Settings > See all settings > Chat and Meet

and switch Google Chat off. This removes the Gemini/AI sidebar for most users.

2. Turn off “Help me write” / AI features

In Gmail, go to:

Settings > See all settings > General

Scroll to Help me write and disable any AI-assisted features.

3. Clear cache or restart Gmail

Sometimes the icon stays visible until Gmail refreshes. Clear your browser cache or fully close/reopen Gmail.

4. If using Chrome, check extensions

Some Google Workspace features appear via extensions. Disable any AI-related Google extensions and reload Gmail. Unfortunately, Google is rolling these features out gradually, and for some accounts, the icon can’t be fully removed yet — even with smart features turned off.

Thank you. "Chat & Meet" is off and has been but where's "Help me write"? It's not in my "General" settings. I'm not using Chrome.
