ebay unfair feedback policy

As a seller my buyer can leave positive neutral or negative feedback but if buyer fails to pay or cancels with the usual excuse bid by accident made a mistake on biding ect the seller is forced into only giving positive feedback this is a unfair policy reason why so many buyers are flaunting the system as ebay has in place a policy for every thing else why do they not make it known how many times a buyer does this so much for if you bid you are entering into a contract to buy

Re: ebay unfair feedback policy

Leaving bad feedback for buyers stopped many moons ago as it became a ' tit for tat' scenario, and even left some sellers using ' blackmail' technique to insist buyers leave good feedback before processing a transaction.

If a buyer doesn't pay the best way no warn others and to punish that buyer is to cancel the order after 4 days citing buyer has not paid.  This gives them a strike on their account,  if they gain another,  they would not be able to buy from the majority of sellers for a full 12 months.

This is far better to stop these non payers,  than the leaving of any ' warning' feedback as that  could never be read in time if you were listing Buy it Now items.

Re: ebay unfair feedback policy

I completely agree. I’ve had several buyers recently who have been extremely rude and abusive. While I’ve reported and flagged their messages to eBay, it’s unclear whether any action is taken, as eBay state they won’t update sellers on the outcome.

What feels particularly unfair is that sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers who behave this way—despite personal insults and abuse—while buyers are free to leave feedback at will, regardless of fault. In both cases, I went above and beyond to resolve issues that were not caused by me, did everything correctly, and still received ongoing abuse.

The system feels one‑sided and offers little protection for sellers dealing with unreasonable or hostile behaviour.

You may think Ebay's feedback policy is unfair, but not following it can damage your account.

You are not allowed to leave negative comments with a green positive dot.

If you have nothing positive to say, then don't leave feedback.  You are not 'forced' into giving feedback and, if asked, Ebay would remove those negative comments from the accounts you have left them for.

I always think it is better for a buyer to cancel a bid, even though it is disappointing.  I would rather have a cancelled sale than a non-paying bidder.  We are all human and fallible.  Ebay give bidders a really limited choice of reasons for cancelling a bid and the most usual choice is 'bid wrong amount'.  Buyers can't choose 'I changed my mind; read the listing properly and decided this wasn't for me; realised the dress wouldn't fit me; had to buy a new exhaust for my car and couldn't afford it, etc. etc.'
