Item not as described

I recently bought a used car engine that was said to be in good running oder & was reaching running temperature. This was fitted by a specialist mechanic. After it was fitted, the mechanic said that 2 of the injectors were not running properly & would need to be replaced to avoid a major breakdown. The 2 injectors cost over £900 & I have now found that the engine is not reaching running temperature, so I have to take it back to the garage, possibly for a replacement thermostat. I contacted the seller to report this,  but he has denied all responsibility. I don't necessariy want to return the engine, as this has been fitted and apart from the issues mentioned here, is otherwise running OK. However, the seller says that he only gives a warranty for the head block & sump, & that any other engine parts are left on 'as a bonus' for the customer. He did advertise the engine as 'complete with injectors & turbo'. When I first made enquiries by phone about the engine & delivery, I was assured that the engine was in good working order. As I paid over £1000 for the engine, I think that I have been overcharged, considering that I have had to buy replaceent defective parts that I hadn't expected. I don't really want to return the engine, as this would involve further expense as I would have to pay further labour charges to the mechanic and have the problem of having to get it back to him, soI think I should be able to get some partial refund to help toward these unexpected cost. I cannot find any links on Ebay to report this and/or ask for assistance, as there are only options for 'return an item' or 'item not received' etc, but none for 'item not as described'. Can anybody help please?

eBay don't get involved with partial refunds without return.   It's something you'd have to contact the seller about and see if they will agree on a compromise.   Failing that you could try the small claims court, (now moneyclaim online):

Was the engine collected by you or delivered? For a normal item delivered to you you can go to my ebay,  more actions, return item, from the menu select item not as described, the seller will then have the chance to respond but will likely lose and might offer you a partial refund rather than have to pay for it to be returned to them. Was there any disclaimer about the injectors in the item listing? If you collected it then you are deemed to have inspected it on collection and there will be no recourse through eBay.
