Ebay ignoring fake item reports

(Sorry if i put this in the wrong place, hate the update)

So i've contacted a charity (big and known one) about items i do collect and they get them in regually but i've told them the ones that are fake but they have ignored and some how gone for over x10 the value price on real ones, dealing to dodgy selling and buying, i've reported many items to ebay about these fake items, which is prohibated on ebey but ebay have ignored this seller for over 3 years now. Its not just TCG items but others like gold items that they say is real gold yet its not but they ignore the report.

Has ebay gave up on these reports as long as the fees are paid? I've started moving to indoor stores for my stuff as its just chinese sellers with fake uk addresses and uk sellers, even charity shops selling fakes.

No, but it's not in particularly good health...

My own opinion is that it is not worth reporting fakes because it is, frankly, a waste of time; the best response you should expect from eBay is that as they do not see a particular item they are unable to judge whether or not it is genuine. And there is also the possibility that some - how can I put this? - less than scrupulous sellers would make use of the reporting route as a tool to have their competitors' products removed from the site and increase their own sales.

I gave up reporting fakes to eBay long ago - it really is pointless. Like you I have contacted well known charities, business and private sellers over the years to let them know that a particular item they have is fake: some respond and remove the item, some don't.

Decent though your intentions are caveat emptor applies. A buyer is covered by the MBG, though that only lasts for 30 days, but the bottom line is that if the buyer doesn't really know what they are buying and is unable to differentiate between a genuine item and a fake one then they really only have themselves to blame.

Everyone loves a bargain, but unless a buyer is able to spot the differences between genuine and fake then they really shouldn't risk their money by purchasing on eBay. Sadly it is simply not possible for well-intentioned people such as yourself to police this site. That's eBay's responsibility.

Thank you for the reply, its very strange that no one is even replying to most of the posts since this stupid change over on these boards, you get more on reddit.

They are very easy to see so they must be using that silly AI stuff to save money. I'll expect the items to be back on the list as this one charity a heart one, likes to bid on its own items to hike the price. item worth 10 quid went for over 300 the other day yet it was back on the isting today. Yet its classed as sold on the feedback.

You could try reporting to trading standards - there is an online form available.

ebay basically argue they are not a distributor and therefore have no responsibility regardless of their policies which for the vast amount of time they pay lip service to.

ebay is not a safe place to shop unless you buy from reputable business sellers which are nestled amongst the bad ones !

ebay's lax rules and belief  it is the seller's responsibility  -( ebay claim to only provide a selling medium  and therefore have nothing to do with a sale).

This encourages unscrupulous sellers to offer fake, copy, poor quality misrepresented goods without telling the buyer truly where they are located, with false guarantees often pretending to be private sellers to avoid consumer legislation and these are the good ones !

Wait until you get to the scam sellers !

I'm finding that it matters not what I'm reporting and why, the listings just remain up there. Ebay is little other than a Chinese Theft Festival now. The least ebay could do is make it easier to ascertain the location of the seller. UK stock means nothing when you're still dealing with a culture, within which there are individuals who considers you inferior and who don't mind stealing from you with lies, misrepresentation and utterly garbage products, then repeated offers of discounts if you hold onto the piece of *bleep*. I'm walking away. Ebay is not what it once was and it doesn't care to police these miscreants. I'm sick of the disappointment and the hassle of sorting it out.

Yep i agree.

I've also reported about the broken search which after 7 years still ain't fixed as i search for a TCG cards in plain words yet it comes up with zero or a few items but says with fewer words and shows hundreds of the same card with the same wording.

Loads of broken azz bugs for years and then chinese sellers in the uk but item comes from china. Ebay has tanked on profits and yet they still don't see the problem.
