Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay, marco@ebay and dave@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.

To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.

Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.

If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!

Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 12.11.25 @2pm

Hello All,

A lot of sellers have been reporting an issue finding the blue withdraw button to access their funds when using a laptop.

The way around this is to reduce the size of the page by 20% although surely we shouldn't have to do this every time. Wouldn't it be simpler to reduce the size of the box to save on all of the frustration and calls to CS who don't seem to know the answer anyway?

Hopefully, an easy fix.

There's an odd glitch when listing items that use the Global Shipping Programme to send to the US - if I look at the item I've listed on eBay.com, it states that I may not ship to the US. In order for the GSP amount to be displayed, I have to click on "revise" on Ebay UK and then save it again. When is this going to be sorted?

Hi-Three items-order numbers  15-13772-68174      09-13777-06784  and  09-13777-06785  sent by me on 3rd November to the GSP shipping warehouse. This week, they have all arrived back at my house!!  The scant info on the Pitney Bowes tracking says "excepted item".  What happens now?  These items were ALL within the size limits-it's about time that items that can not be sent were stated more clearly in your blurb. So, after all that-I'm back at square one. GSP had these item, all booked in and tracking recorded, for up to 4 days before deciding that they could not be bothered to send them to my buyer. Any info on this total chaos appreciated. Thanks.

Hi jjambadger27, thanks for your question.

Yes, we are aware of this issue, and it has also been escalated to our technical team. They replicated the issue, and it is of my understanding that this will be fixed. However, to set up the right expectation, we are not sure how long this would take at this stage, while it might be fixed soon enough, it could take a bit longer than usual.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi @cobwebcottage

I was just speaking with the team about that. It seems to be an issue with the resolution on different laptops and to be honest, I dont know what changed to cause it to happen.

Thanks for the work around, I'll definitely pass it over to the CS teams so they are aware of it.

Thanks,

Dave

Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 12.11.25 @2pm

Good afternoon eBay Community Team,

I would like some clarification regarding the new protection policy announced on 2nd October 2025 in relation to Item Not Received (INR) cases.

As I understand it, if a postage label is purchased through eBay and a buyer raises an INR case, eBay has stated that if the item is subsequently delivered after a refund has been issued to the buyer, eBay will refund the seller and remove any related negative feedback.

My question concerns timing: how long does eBay expect sellers to wait before refunding the buyer once an INR case has been opened?

The reason I ask is that the estimated delivery dates provided by eBay to buyers are often not realistic or in real-time.

This can encourage buyers to raise INR cases prematurely, and in many instances, the parcel arrives within a day or two after the case is opened.

For example:

If a buyer raises an INR case on 12th November because eBay’s system advised delivery by 11th November, should sellers issue a refund immediately, or are we allowed a few days’ grace to allow for late delivery before acting?

There appears to be no clear guidance on this point in the current policy, so I would appreciate clarification on the expected process and timeframes.

I want to be sure I am fully compliant with the policy and that I do not risk losing seller protection due to small print or timing technicalities, as in refunding too quickly based solely on eBay’s automated delivery estimates.

For your information, Pack link always advises waiting 14 days before refunding buyers, obviously, that is too long for our buyers to wait, and we never wait that long before addressing an issue with the buyer.

Best wishes

Hi @lincolnshiremarine

If you ship on time using a tracked shipping service purchased through eBay labels, you will be covered up to 30 days after an INR case is closed. The INR case will still run on the usual timeframes, and you will need to refund the buyer before the case is escalated.

Thanks,

Dave

Good afternoon,

Any news regarding postage for bladed items with Simple Delivery. Still not possible after asking this for weeks now. Any up-date ?

Would be safer to add this on bladed items : letter openers and other sharp items. Bladed items can be sold as described in T&C on eBay as long as seller is advertising such items with age verified postage ( must be visible on the listing ) and posting them with age verified postage, but at the moment this is not possible.

Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 12.11.25 @2pm

Hi, I was listing some CDs yesterday and there was the option to list all at once on a Variation listing (Which I thought was gone for Private sellers) I set up my first ever with 9 CDs but can't find any information about how it works with SD or BPF. I was hoping that someone could buy 2, 3 or all of the CD's for the same postage which I have added as SD.

Does SD on Variation listings do that or will the buyer get charged for each CD?

Does BPF fixed charge get added to each item or just item 1 of 3 or 4 items.

Thanks

Can I ask a question. If a buyer opens an item not received case for an item, but tracking shows the item is delivered, or tracking shows as delivered before 4 days are up (which is the period where we can get ebay to automatically close the case), can we contact ebay customer support to close the case or do we need to wait the allocated 4 days for the automatic closure of the case?

I have created a flat postage rule in postage preferences to automatically adjust the postage cost for additional items added to basket.

Because I have different business policies for postage (to account for different parcel sizes), although I have applied the same combined postage rule to each one the automatic postage discount won’t apply to items in basket that use a different business policy.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but is there any way to merge them so the flat postage rule kicks in for buyers across the board?

Hi custom-giftsuk, thanks for your question.

You can only contact us to get the case closed for you after 3 business days of the case being filed, we are unable to step in/take actions before the make it right period. Otherwise, you can wait for the case to be closed automatically.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi @suelel1968 ,

Variations has not been removed for private sellers. Some users might have this confused with the multi buy discount tool which was removed for private sellers earlier in the year.

The system will automatically calculate combined shipping for SD as long as the buyer adds all the items in one transaction. When purchasing multiple quantities within a listing,  the flat fee part of the buyer protection fee is only charged once.

Thank you,

Kat
