Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 02.07.25 @2pm

Are you sure estimated delivery times are working?

This is an order from today, I have expanded my dispatch time to 5 working days

Dispatch by 9 Jul at 11.59pm BST

Make sure you send your order within the dispatch time you specified in the listing.
Estimated delivery date shown to buyer: 5 Jul 2025 - 10 Jul 2025

How can I have until the 9th to dispatch but the buyer is expecting it from the 5th?

Hello there,

just a question about your new Advertising fee structure change. Not about how it works now because we have read it all.

From a business point of view: last week only we had less clicks, less impressions and less sales. You still managed to double the cost of advertising despite reducing our promoted listing on daily basis for 4 weeks now. So, what do you actually offer in return for this compulsory advertisement cost increase please? Absolutely nothing, it seems.

Hi nutrafituk, thanks for your question.

With promoted listings you get access to ad placements that can increase your listings’ visibility to reach more buyers and drive sales, a platform that is simple to use to create and manage your campaigns, flexibility and controls to match your business goals.

If you believe there is something impacting your views/clicks, or similar things like this, you can contact our support team and they can review your account for you to make sure it is all good.

Thank you,

Marco

Thanks for the reply

2 Points,

1. In one seartch term there are 27000 listings, its not really viable for a seller

2. In April 24 the new regulatory fee was added to sellers fees, to deal with such issues, as a customer its pretty poor to ask us when your already charging me for it.

Its not just one or two its 10's of thousands, Ive shown how you can find them, its too big an issue for a small selection of sellers or individual seller to address.

Can you make sure this is addressed please

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 02.07.25 @2pm

There are several active threads on the forum regarding the inability to list 'oversized' items with custom

delivery.

The help page https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/posting-items/setting-postage-options/simple-delivery?id=5575 still says 'Bulky items and Authenticity Guarantee listings are currently excluded from Simple Delivery. '

If I try to list an item that you would reasonably assume might be bulky for example title 'sofa' in category in 'Home, Furniture & DIY > Furniture > Sofas Armchairs & Couches' there is no postage option other than simple delivery.

If I try and list a fishing rod it does let me select 'oversized' /  custom delivery so it seems that ebay may be basing this on the category chosen. Is there an easy way of reporting these categories that do not allow 'oversized' items but should?

To be fair there are many categories where I can imagine where 99% of items might be within the size limit but 1% may not be, I hope that you would have some kind of plan to cater for this.

Would someone be able to take a look at this thread and see if there is something we are missing?

Seemingly prices changing as they move into the basket despite the items being in the UK.

Thx in advance.

Ebays courier DPD making false claims of attempted delivery, customer service and authenticity team couldn't care.  We are talking of an item worth £2500 now sat in van floating around.  Why is the generic answer that an update may take 24 to 48 hrs ? Your couriers can not be trusted

Hi @auctiongabble

We don't have any visibility on any of the AG processes here so we can't check the transaction to see what's happening.

CS and AG are the only teams that can help with your issue so if it has been over 48hrs and there is no update it might be worth reaching out to them again.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 02.07.25 @2pm

The principle of advertisement is they you increase your sales and see return on your investement. Your policy change is click-based, and apart from profit increase for eBay gives us absolutely nothing, and you should know that.

But at the moment if you want to list a chair even or a large art print there is no option to chose oversize parcel so how can people list their large items which are not eligible for SD

when I try to list a chair under home furniture and put in dimensions of 100 x 65 x 65 it defaults to SD large letter 😐 with no custom option

theres a workaround of putting over 750£ as the price which triggers custom postage but when price is amended it doesn’t always retain the postage for some people

Hi edwardian-dreams, thanks for your input.

Yes, we are aware of this at the moment, and this is currently under review. However, we haven't received further updates on it. Once we know more, I'll be happy to let you know.

Thank you,

Marco

Afternoon!

Last week (or the week before?) dave@ebay  confirmed that if I had used the 'recommended' size/weight label, I wouldn't be liable for any overcharges, and this is what it still says on he help pages.

Yesterday when I went to print off a SD label (recommended LL up to 1kg) I noticed that if you click the information button about parcel sizes you get this:

Avoid extra charges by keeping your package within the size limit selected at listing — up to 1 kg, 35 x 25 x 2.5 cm.

Larger or heavier packages will still be accepted by the carrier, as long as they’re within the maximum limit — up to 1.00 kg and 35.3 x 25 x 2.5 cm.

Does this mean now that if I use a recommended LL label, and it just goes over to Small Parcel, I will get an overcharge? New boxes when choosing postage when listing look as if eBay now put 3 size/weight groups (LL, SP, MP) and it very much suggests that if you have used, for instance, the recommended LL label, the item still has to be LL size.

Why are these changes never announced to us? There are so many ongoing changes to SD, that we really could do with something like a pinned thread to notify us about any changes as they happen.
At the moment I am taking a daily screenshot of the help page that (currently) states 'up to the maximum' allowed. I will not be expecting to pay any overcharge payments on items that were listed when this statement applied.

Hi @ruby*ryan

You should covered as usual but I sent this over to the SD team to get confirmation that there was no change.

I'll let you know as soon as I have something I can share.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi wellingnorth, thanks for your question.

There is no way to report a category that doesn't support certain sizes, but we are aware of this, and this is currently under review, but we haven't received any updates on it yet. Once we know more, we will be able to let you know more.

Hi @krafty-kreations

The EDD is dynamic and based on a number of different factors such as your historical dispatch and delivery times. This can sometimes lead to overlap with the dispatch times like you're seeing.

As long as the item is delivered within the EDD there shouldn't be any issues.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi @ccla3379

Thats a strange one! Im getting a similar change when I add the item to basket.

Ive flagged it with Tech and asked them to review it. I'll reply on the main thread when I hear back from them.

Thanks,

Dave
