why does ebay allow clearly counterfeit goods?

I buy a t-shirt sold as a brand but they send out a cheap t-shirt with the brand poorly printed on it, ebay considers that genuine???  ebay refuse my appeal and I dont see how to take it any further.  I am sure trading standards would seize these sort of goods but have no appetite for getting into the hassle considering the amount of fake and counterfeit goods being sold on here, ebay must be making too much money devaluing reputable brands.  again ebay profit comes before its consumers

ebay have no idea what the product is. They even state this in the User Agreement...

"While we may help facilitate the resolution of disputes through various programmes, eBay has no control over, and, unless expressly provided, does not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of, items advertised; the truth or accuracy of users' content, listings or Feedback; the ability of sellers to sell items; the ability of buyers to pay for items; or that a buyer or seller will actually complete a transaction or return an item."

eBay has second to none buyer protection.

If you opened a not as described case and followed it through you would have got a full refund.
