can't buy from seller

I have had a few items in my shopping basket that I am now ready to pay for. I keep going to checkout but keep getting the auto message "It looks like items from this seller currently aren't available for purchase. We recommend that you search for similar items from other sellers." But they still have those items up for sale on their autions page!

Is the seller definitely there at the moment? I wondered if they had marked themselves away? Sometimes the 'away' message doesn't appear immediately. I can't think why their items would be unavailable otherwise, unless they have just switched the items you wanted from 'buy it now' to auction only?

Hi Dept28, thankyou for responding to my plight. Earlier this year when I put the items I wanted in my basket, it did say the away notification, but gave a date as to when the shop was active again. I waited and waited as I know you can still order things and the seller will deal with sales on their return. Ever since then, I just cannot checkout. The seller is DBD_Sewing_Supplies, who has always been a fab seller to me. I can't understand why the seller would still have live auctions available. I did wonder if the seller could be ill....

I've just run an Advanced Search for the seller you mentioned and it returned "The query must have at least 1 keyword, category ID, EPID (eBay Product ID), ISBN, event ID or UPC.Invalid seller name."

There may be something wrong with Advanced Search at the moment (which, to be honest, wouldn't surprise me) but if not that suggests that the seller no longer exists. Any chance you could post an Item Number of one of the items in your shopping basket so I can investigate further?

I've just had a quick look at their feedback - it seems a bit odd that they have had no feedback left for them in the last month... all the feedback is from the past 6 months, so It looks like something must be wrong. And there is no sign of an 'away' message.  Perhaps you could message them to see if you get any response? 

They have their own website, but that is not displaying any products for sale at the moment, & some of the links are coming up as 'page not found'.

How long have you had the items in your basket?

they could have altered the listing in some way.

If the same seller has the same items for sale why not empty your basket and refill it with the same items.

then see if you get a problem checking out

When I tried to search the seller via the name you gave with the underscores it came back with a red banner message 'Sorry, this user was not found', but there is a seller DBD Sewing Supplies based in Normanton. Are they the same seller?

Opening one of their items is stays 'The seller is away until 26 Dec, 2024. Add this item to your Watchlist to keep track of it.'

I have put a couple of items in my basket & when I go to basket it also says they are on holiday.

If I then click on checkout it says

'This seller is taking a break
Some similar items that you can buy right now.'

Yes, I think that is the same seller in Normanton, & there is an away message above their eBay shop page now, so they must've just added that update. The OP will have a bit of a wait to buy the items now... it is always frustrating when something like this happens, just when you're all set to checkout... like when you finally make up your mind to buy something, only to find the last one sold yesterday...😢

Hi Zoomingmouse, I looked at my checkout basket tonight when I got home and have noticed the message has changed, saying the seller is away until 26th Dec 24. So it feels I'm at least getting some updated info. Yes  I think the seller is in Normanton as I remember thinking it's not too far from where I live, so yes I guess it's the same person. Thank you for your help and advice so far x

At least you have Boxing Day as a prompt for their return to work. You should be able to order after this, or soon after I would think.
