Vat charges why

Why are ebay charging me vat on items I'm buying in UK??? If an item is listed at £10 that's what we expect to pay   . Nowhere in the listing does it say seller  wants £10    but ebay want 20 per cent on top its becoming a joke

Can you provide a listing number where this is happening?

Is it a digital 'item'?  These have VAT applied.

Or it may just be the VAT applied to the postage and BPF costs. (because these are from *ebay* not the seller, ebay have to add VAT.)

But if it's not digital and VAT is applied to the whole thing, that is a bit of a mystery  🤔

As advised , and to add --- even if item is in the UK , if either the Buyer or Seller is using/or has initially had an account that was  registered outside the UK site ,  then an additional 20% Import VAT and any other duty is charged on UK delivery.
