Has any other UK buyer had this problem? I'm absolutely disgusted with eBay for ever implementing it. It's so discriminating and weird. Basically if you're in the UK, you are now no longer allowed to buy from any seller in America, no matter how hard it might be to find this particular item, no matter how much you might be willing to pay for it, eBay don't care at all. They should actually be ashamed of themselves, they didn't even have the decency to let UK buyers and American sellers know about this ridiculous new rule. If you haven't already, just try it. You can put any item in your basket, but you just...can't buy any item if it's from America. When you go to checkout, a message comes up saying "sorry this seller won't ship here" despite the fact 1) you probably can't find the item you want anywhere else 2) some sellers are happy to ship to UK and 3) it's global shipping
And the worst bit about it? There's nothing the seller can do. If you are lucky enough to eventually get it shipped here thanks to a workaround, it's eBay that decide the shipping cost, not the seller. So you might find yourself paying more for shipping than the actual item!
I can't even begin to tell you how upset and confused I am about it. UK is not even in excluded countries, eBay are just treating it like it doesn't exist at all. Me and my fiancé had to ask 3 different sellers about sending our most sought after item for our collection (which we did eventually get thanks to one lovely seller ending the listing and re listing it for us- just in a different category) but that's the only way you can buy. I've just had a American seller tell me they will get a account restriction if they send a different item to me, as shipping to UK is no longer allowed. Yet shipping to pretty much every other country is? It's absolutely disgusting!
I wonder if eBay realise if they keep this up, they will lose so many customers! What do you think of this?

For Tamiya parts I'd be looking at Japanese suppliers

This is not just a CE mark thing. It applies to everything including vehicles. I used to be able to search: Motors>Cars and Trucks>Year of manufacture. This no longer works!

I have said this from the start as I was trying to buy second hand car parts for my hot rod and they do not come under the safety standards kitemark regs etc. I am convinced that it was because the UK and its constituent countries was nowhere to be found on the ebay destination shipping list, nor did it/they appear on the prohibited list. This has now been remedied and since then I do not have any issues with buying stuff from the USA, unless of course the seller does not want to ship internationally.

See my response to the same post. It may have been a safety standard thing for some items but it has never been the whole story.
I do not have any issues with buying globally including the USA now. However the exchange rate has made the US less attractive and for my toys I go straight to the source in the far east.

I'd agree if looking for stock parts and gave done so in the past. However, my interest was custom parts and JPS, New ERA, and ESP manufacturing were all USA based manufacturers but I see the chinese are producing similar custom parts but to be honest I have moved on from that hobby now.

Last weekend I spent over a hour and went through about 6 or 7 eBay agents trying to purchase a photographic item from a seller in the USA whose item was shown on eBay.co.uk. Eventually the final solution suggested was to purchase the item as a guest. This solution worked although it's not ideal as I lose some of the usual buyer protection. I had to do the same again today. A seller in China (but showing on eBay.com) had an item I added to my watchlist. The seller soon made an offer which I was unable to accept on eBay.com or eBay.co.uk so again I had to buy the item at full price as a guest. The international aspects of eBay are currently a complete shambles. Luckily, I recently found buyee.jp which enables bidding or buying items from some Japanese online auctions, although not eBay.jp unless you happen to be living in S.E. Asia.

Yet in searches I'm still being offered items from USA sellers and can look at their pages?!

Have all your issues remained fixed? I also buy a lot of hot wheels, and have found this issue is still a problem - even for newly listed items (I even got a nice seller to take down a listing and create a brand new one to test, but same result)
that seller contacted eBay who simply told them ‘the item (hot wheel Mario kart toy, which for reference had the Ce ukca marking on the packet) was not permitted to be shipped to the uk’
I still don’t have the option to buy most hot wheels from the USA, even though they’re EIS enabled, it’s really frustrating

The issue was never fixed and it got worse. I was prevented from buying rangefinder camera equipment (including just a lens hood) not only in the USA, but also Japan, and finally here in the UK. It's crazy. eBay didn't have a clue and I spent hours on the phone trying to get it sorted out. Clearly not a field on my id that's wrong, as that's been checked many times, so it must be some internal coding problem. When I learnt there were UK bidders on a UK item I was prevented from bidding on, I took the simple step of opening a second account. All you need is a different email address, payment methods in the new account can stay the same as you normally use. Now when I encounter a problem I just switch accounts although it will take some time to build up my feedback since I've been buying on eBay for some 19 years.

I dont have any issues any longer. I have bought what I cant get in the UK eg HW USA exclusives. I have kept to particular sellers as they have been quite good to me with postage costs on multi-purchases etc. They are based in California and Texas so whether it is a State specific thing, who knows. I am convinced it was because the UK or its constituent countries was not listed anywhere in the shipping or exclusion lists. As I said before my experience was not isolated to my HW collecting; I was unable to buy parts for my American car either new or second hand......I can now. So not isolated to safety standard coding either. I must admit though because of the exchange rate and the increase in shipping costs I have bought less from the USA and more from the far east...prices are better and one seller out of singapore could do 10 HW cars for £12 shipping whereas California to UK was double that for one car.
Good luck.

If you were unable to buy from the USA, and then prevented from buying in Japan and now the UK, (I assume that you are UK based), but you CAN buy from these sources with your new ID then it stands to reason that there must be something specific to your old ID or email addy. I think quite possibly your experiences/difficulties have been due to different issues than my own, and some others, when I originally posted. In my experience it is a waste of time trying to get help from anybody from ebay....you just end up going round in circles and get nowhere. Sounds like you have found your own solution but of course you are starting afresh with your new ID from a feedback perspective.
My difficulties have been resolved but as I said in a previous post the increase in shipping costs and the GBP/USD exchange rate have made the US a less attractive source for me....and therefore less of an issue. I can get what I want from Singapore at a fraction of the price and hope that my 56 Ford F100 holds together for a little while longer.
Good luck
