Question about returns, need advice.

Hiya all,  just after a little clarification regarding a return.

My daughter is at uni & lost her airpods, she has autism & needs music to get thru the day so I bought her some from eBay, seller seemed nice & went above & beyond to post them straight away for next day delivery - item arrived but 1 of the pods wouldn't connect & seemed broken, after research it turns out these were very likely fake (after searching on Reddit it seems most airpods on eBay under £100 are fake from sellers who have multiple items). I went through troubleshooting with the seller & we agreed I'd return them, was really nice about it - i started a return & he refunded me straight away - eBay return said post by 10th June, so far so good.

My daughter is in stage school uni in London & is currently at the end of year 2 & it's yearly show week so she's in uni 730am to 9pm Mon to Saturday & can't get to the post office to return the item as it's  closed when she's home, she's in halls & royal mail don't offer collection from there & she's not there anyway. She messaged me last night asking if she can post it next week when she finishes uni & travels home to the north west, she's also lost the return label I sent her.

Now the issue, I went to my eBay account & the return has pretty much disappeared, the item is under purchased items & shows return details, it shows return started (ticked) dispatched (untucked) refunded (ticked) so seems to be completed. There's no options to get another return label anywhere on the app or the website versions.

My question is do I need to return these still, & will I be charged if I don't? I bought her genuine ones the day after & these fake ones are effectively useless I'm just worried about eBay auto charging me if we miss the return date & we don't even have a return label anymore.

Sorry for the long winded post, thanks in advance for any advice.

You should be able to print the label again from your account somewhere as long as the return window is open.

If not, have CS reissue the same label to your email, if you didn't already have one emailed to you.

Have you checked with the seller if he actually wants the item sent back, since he has already refunded?

Seems this seller did not wish for the item to be returned, adding more ' proof' that indeed the item would seem to have been a fake, and they refunded you through the case straight away.

Refund made, therefore case closed,  nothing else for you to do.

That was my thinking... refund issued and no return necessary, particularly as the item is defective.

The buyer should surely be able to see "case closed" against the item return details, though has not mentioned it?

And shouldn't he have received notification from eBay in Messages along the lines of "you have received a full refund and there is no need to return the item".

Your case is closed so the option to get a label is no longer there, that's because when a seller simply refunds, you don't need to return anything.

Ebay will not reverse the refund.

I got 1 email saying return started, return by 10th June to get a refund. We'll issue a refund once royal mail scan your return. No other info at all. 

Then soon after I got another email saying your refund was sent, it'll take 3-5 days, & the tracker thing shows return started (box ticked) despatched (box empty) refunded (box ticked).

I never opened a case it was just a return request. Only info on the sale stuff is dates for  purchase, delivered, return started, refunded. 

I feel like it's closed & just wary of them auto charging me for not returning the item (if I indeed I can't buy the 10th)
